Whoa that was some kick ass Cap action. Issue #13 is most probably, I think gona be the best issue since the relaunch. That may be a bold statement but I believe it to be true. This is Cap kickin arse. Cap is ****ing Back. I'm actually glad now that Humphries has taken over from Hickman. This is gona be immense. Cap's gona have a beard too! I thought I saw a bit of tash.

A lot of posters are saying lose the helmet. No way. I say lose the arm plates, thus taking away the 'boxy' tinman image that he has now. Then tint the blue just a little bit darker. then there you have it. An excellent costume. Perfect in fact. The helmet's cool. It's what people from Britain might call "dutty" or "rude". It's cool because it's a bit unfashionable and distasteful. Like wearing pink laces in your trainers for instance. It's rude. Cap's helmet is an exaggeration of that. It's a bold and prominent feature. And the badly painted on 'A' is just perfect.

Level III ballistic vest, eh? Cool.

Also, if Billy Tan maintains this quality of art throughout DWF, I'll eat my shoe.
This. Even though I might not eat my shoe I agree with this and I feel your excitement. I never knew Billy Boy was actually this good. His artwork is excellent.

Thanks wyo. I already didn't like him that much from his Ultimate Iron Man mini but now I just downright despise him.

Either way there has to be a story involved with his gear.
I do hope you're right and that this is a self made, temporary costume.

It will look slightly better, but still pretty damn bad.

I believe the movie version was quite heavily inspired by Hitch's UU design from Ultimates 2.

Not a fan of Tan's work (and that's definitely Tan). It's a step down for the Ultimates imo.

Also, not sure about the armored torso, in particular those block shoulder pads.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!

I think it's the shoulder pads that are making him look boxy and tinny. Take them away, tint the blue ever so slightly darker and.... Wallah! :P

I kinda disagree with the whole WWII look thing. I mean clearly Tan was working off of his WWII appearance but the new costume does look a lot more modernized that the old one. I really like the boots, pants and gloves. The only thing holding this costume back from permanence is the helmet. If they're going to modernize the costume, they need to go all in. Give him a modern Kevlar helmet or none at all. Overall though, I like this. I expect it to be temporary anyway.

I agree. I don't mind the helmet but the shoulder pads should have been rounded or removed entirely. Rounded would have made all the difference. And the color needs to be darker for sure. The one cool thing about the colors is that he doesn't have red gloves and boots anymore. Even though his previous ones were very military-esq I didn't so much like the look of the red. They were better than the 616 gloves and boots, but only slightly.

The part that I don't get is that he's clearly wearing his old cowl under the helmet. You can even see the trademark seems that run up from his eye-holes. But Humphries explained that he had to hand-paint the "A" on his helmet because his costume wasn't supplied to him. Well, take off the helmet and there's a pretty straightly printed "A" on the cowl already, buddy

I love the look of the vest. It makes perfect sense. Sure he's a master strategist, but he's not fast enough to dodge bullets and bullets will still kill him. Now he can be hit multiple times and still fight. Maybe his experience with Peter Parker made him realize just how fragile they all are and that's why he's beefing up his costume.

I wouldn't mind this being his permanent costume, but it would be nice to sort of get a middle-ground between this and his old one. Have it be a little less bulky and maybe have his Ultimates helmet and chin-strap if you're gonna have a helmet. That one was already established so there's no need for a new one.

I hope the weather's deceiving us because it looks too hot out to be wearing that, unless he's got some ridiculous air conditioner installed in it.

Cool costume (guaranteed to sell action figures), though the helmet throws me off a bit.

Helmet doesn't bother me. Shoulder pads are a bit wonky. Kinda looks like trying out for the NHL. But it's still instantly recognizable as Cap, fer crissakes.

Wow, it seems like we're all pretty split on this one. I love this new outfit. Captain America almost got himself shot from behind the last time we saw him and the only reason he didn't is because Spider-Man saved his ass. I think that experience probably made him realize he's not as invincible as he thought and it's time to get serious. The world is getting worse and worse. There's a super human arms race going on. It's time to get smart and wear the body armor and a helmet like the rest of the soldiers. Maybe he's wearing an antiquated helmet for nostalgia alone. I've got no problem with Cap dressing this way and I think it's a pretty bad ass looking costume. Can't wait to buy the 1:6 scale statue.

I think it's pretty cool, though I would've preferred a change to the 616. Ultimate Cap's was already a decent modernisation, while 616 is outdated and goofy looking I think.

I like this design though, it's not unlike a concept I envisioned =) I guess they were thinking along similar lines as me with the redesign: more realism, more protective costume
