This would be a good place to start if you want to know the technology levels of science fiction societies like Star Wars/Trek/Warhammer.

Some of the people you mentioned like Lucifer, The Endless, and Galactus are totally off the scale.

As for humanity, we're about a .72 right now. We might become a 1 within a few hundred years if we're lucky, barring some outrageous breakthrough that accelerates us into Jetsons territory.

Galactus is a pretty solid type four. He uses significantly more energy than a single Galaxy, but less than a Universe.

Anywho, much as we're the typical "Not quite type 1", The Federation and Palpatine's Empire are the archetypical not quite type 2 and not quite type 3, respectively.

The Culture could be considered a not quite type 4.

Actually IIRC the Kardeshev Scale has a limit: there comes a point on it where, and I don't remember but I think it was Arthur C Clark, who said that "any significantly advanced technology would be indistinguishable from nature." In the same train of thought I believe here was another bloke who either wrote or said, specifically regarding the Kardeshev Scale, that there comes a point on it where a "civilization may become so advanced that its machinations are indistinguishable from nature."

I think these characters fall within that category.

Having trouble figuring out where the Green Lanterns/Guardians fit, gotta be at least Type III...

    Four, I'd say.

It'd be good if I could remember that list that expanded it out further in a fairly sensible manner... Seven was omnipotence, I remember that much.

I think type 5 is having energy control over the entire universe. Type 6 is energy control over multiple universes. Type 7 like you mention is pretty much omnipotence.

Seem the Federation are a 2. Galactic Empire look like a 3. Q and his folks are a 4. The Endless are a possibility of being a type 5. So that make Lucifer a 6? LT should be a 6 as well.

I was hoping Iceman can break into the type 1. I just don't know if he meets the requirement. Type 1 seem hard to find. Not too sure about the Sky fathers. With Franklin Richard I peg him at 4. Thanos by himself I have no ideal. If we cut him loose, and let him have his special toys he is up there with the elites. I am just more curious of where he is rank with his normal toys.

According to the link, we reached type 1 in 1964.

You know that's almost certainly exactly how they'd describe themselves. Well, that or "Not Quite Class 4" (rather than Type). And then one of the ships would decide to call itself "The GCU Not Quite Classy Enough 4 Dinner".

Apologies, you're correct, the actual quote is "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." I make boo boo.
