Default Most disturbing versions of fantasy/mythical creatures or races

    ^^topic^^

Basically the exact opposite of the sugar-coated, whimsical versions we grew up reading about as children.

Now I know this is not the worst by far, but I'd like to submit the Drow(Dark Elf Trilogy) for their torture methods. Torture you to hell, give you a regen potion, then do it all again.

I grew up watching Disney's Hercules, and the most disturbing version of the Greek Pantheon comes from the classic myths. Rape, bestiality, incest, patricide, disproportionate retribution for petty grievances, and more exists in the classic stories.

Doctor Who's version of angels is pretty disturbing. But then Ghost Rider's version isn't particularly pleasant.

Seeing Zeus and his wife be utter assclowns makes me realize why people followed the Old Testament God. At least he was consistent and not an annoying rapist prick.

Err...I don't want to get into religion, but I would rather be smoted(take that how you will ) by Zeus than by the Old Testament God. Zeus was an asshole to be sure, but he never made someone's life a living hell just to win a bet with Satan.

Inversely, leprechauns from folklore aren't the scary misers I imagined them being when I grew up watching the Leprechaun slasher movies.

+1 for that. Zeus actually picked out people to smite. Old Testament Yahweh, most of the time didn't bother to aim and spammed AOE's galore.

And yet, the Greek gods hardly did everything nice for people, except make them into stars sometimes.

Whereas OT God gave Job back double what he took away for being such a sport during his tough times.
