Why dont you save the money from the dropped series and then when you have enough buy a collected edition. You are being given options. If you dont like them just leave it.

I appreciate this thread. I am looking for some non-superhero titles, and am able to do some back collecting. Keep them coming, for favor!

The only non-DC/Marvel book I get is American Vampire (Pretty much DC, I know).

Try Bone if you haven't read it yet. It's an epic fantasy series full of comedy and breathtaking art. The whole thing is avaliable as a huge black & white one volume edition or 9 smaller, color editions.

I just bought the first volume of TWD and Invincible. Haven't started on Invincible yet, but so far I am enjoying TWD. Like someone in this thread recommended, I think you should buy TPB's and start with #1 for any series and catch up whenever you catch up. You don't have to buy all the trades at once.

In short - I recommend The Walking Dead. The staff at NYC's Midtown Comics highly recommend Saga too, said it's the hottest thing around at the moment when I stopped by there last week.
Monthly: Animal Man, Batman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman
Currently reading in Trades: Hellboy LE Vol. 1

Sweet Tooth and Y: The Last Man are great as well.

    The Valiant Universe.
X-O Manowar came out in May.
    Harbinger came out in June.
    Bloodshot comes out in July.
Archer & Armstrong comes out in August.

    Buy 'em.

Why does it need to be a current monthly comic? You could just by trades instead, which is a lot cheaper and easier than buying monthlies. Theres bound to be something you're interested in thats been collected in trade format.

Saga is definitely the one to beat right now (as near as I can tell) if you want to jump on in issues but do try to get at least Locke and Key and Chew in trades.

Aside from the many recommendations already in the thread Id like to point out Hypernaturals, its starting soon from Boom and you would be able to pick it up from scratch. The FCBD issue was quite good IMO and the series looks promising.

Other than that I can echo these great and recently started series:

    Saga
    Prophet
    The Shadow
    X-O Manowar

You've created too many hoops to jump through to be able to get a recommendation that is acceptable to you.

    1. You want us to recommend an independent comic title.

    2. You want one that has no back issues or trades you have to buy in order to catch up.

So, in effect you want us to recommend the best indie title that has yet to be published that none of us have yet read.

The solution seems obvious - just buy the next first issue of an independent title that catches your eye. If you hate it, then stop. If you like it, add it to your pull list.

You can't honestly expect us to recommend titles we haven't read yet, can you?

no i don't expect that...but i was expecting a indie title that isn't too hard to follow at the moment
