Unless Zatanna has been seriously changed in NuDC, she doesn't HAVE to say anything backwards, it's just a focus thing. It helps, is all.

Powerwise, obviously Wanda has Zatanna waaaay beat, but they're both of normal human durability last I heard. Unless that also has changed, I figure we're into flip a coin territory, where either one of them can wipe the other one out if they get off the first shot.

Zatana would have to shut her down completely, then. Which probably takes a little more effort on her part than it does on Wanda's.

Zatanna has a consistently high power level but gets knocked out sharpish in so many fights to avoid one shoting bad guys, Wanda goes from making universes to slightly inconveniencing people so I'm going to go with 50/50.

What exactly is Zatanna capable of on the fly? For instance, could she teleport Scarlet's brain out of her body?

Can Zatanna pull of her more powerful and deadly stuff without using the whole speaking backwards crap as a focus? She does need to completely incapacitate Wanda right off the bat to stand a chance. And even then it's not a guarantee, as she was shown to be able to revive herself with an arrow shot, but most of her body and head was intact.

If not then Wanda could win in any number of ways. Starting with just a basic probability hex that turns Zatanna's magic against herself, or if she was really crazed and bloodlusted, simply blinking Z out of existence.

If Zatanna is saying this at the same time Wanda is hexing her with a wave of her hand, then I could see Zatanna's spell turning around on her and killing her instead.

Wanda's hexes have caused stranger things to happen.

If Wanda's just sitting there doing nothing while Zatanna's speaking, then she'd probably fall over dead. Or at least be incapacitated for a little while until she revives herself somehow.
