I'm taking a wait and see view of the movie. However I do hope that they at least adress the love triangle of MJ/Peter/Gwen at some point in the new movies. Gwen will most likely die in number 3, and MJ will be there to help him with the loss. I would have liked to have seen at least a bit of him trying to date Liz Allen, since she was the girl he first liked and wanted to date in high school, and she had a crush on spiderman, then they went to college and enter the whole Gwen/Betty/MJ problem.

If Capt. Stacey is being used as the Anti-spidey person, perhaps we can see a young Jean De Wolf in there acting as the opposite and being okay with the web slinger. It would add to some interesting moments given the whole connection to that era of Spiderman.

Spider-man 2 was a milestone. It's one of the best movies I've ever seen, and I'm very fond of it. I'm sooooo curious, how would you have improved upon it? Organic webshooters or not, it was very faithful to the spirit of 60's Spider-man.
I love Spider-Man 2, but it isn't perfect. I would have made Mary Jane not an annoying, lois Lane cliche who cheats on every guy she dates onscreen. I would make Peter Parker seem funny and intelligent, instead of just staring and fumbling over his words being his whole personality. And most importantly, I would give a not-stupid explanation for him losing his powers. I mean, seriously? He's losing his powers because of stress? And they don't come back when a kid is about to burn to death and they'll cut out 50 stories up. But when his girlfriend is in trouble? Suddenly he's punching through rubble and has perfect eyesight. It's just cheesy and kinda makes Peter seem like the ONLY thing he cares about is his girlfriend.

The bright part about this movie coming out tomorrow is unlike the 2002 version, from the trailer the movie looks promising. You could tell from the trailer back in 2002 the movie was going to suck.the first one. There have been some good points made here in this thread about they have made some bad casting choices.Like Aunt May for example.Sally Field is too young to be Peters aunt,no grey hair or nothing.the lady from the 2002 version was Aunt May brought to life.Same With Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben.I dont understand WHY they could not have gotten the same actors from the 2002 film to come back.grrrr. Ditto with Capt Stacy.Dennis Leary as Capt Stacy,WTF?

However at least in THIS film, they nailed the right actors for the roles of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. While the casting choices in the Raimi spiderman films for Aunt May,Uncle Ben and Capt Stacy were far superiour than the choices of the actors for this film for those roles,at least they got the MOST importannt casting choices right.Garfield and Stone as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy.Garfeld is by far a much better superiour actor than Tobey "Goober" Mcguire. That guy is horrible in all his movies. He couldnt act if his life depended on it.Same with Kirsten DUNCE.She did not portray MJ's character properly at all. While some of the actors cast in the supporting roles for this film are very questionable, you got to ask yourself this question. If you had a choice which would you rather hollywood screw up on in casting choices for a spiderman film, the supporting characters from the comics,or the lead roles from the comics.Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy? I would much rather them mess up on the supporting characters than the two main lead roles anyday of the year.

Although, I haven't seen you use the phrase "True Fan." Admittedly, I didn't read the whole thing. Kinda glossed over every so often.

Spider-Man 2 is awesome. Getting hung up on what was and what wasn't changed is a waste of time. Enjoy it on it's own merits.
Damn straight he is a horrible actor. The guy couldnt act if his life depended on it.He sounds like he doesnt even want to be there in not just the spiderman films but in ALL his films. He sounds the same in EVERY film, same monotone lame delivery of lines with a voice that makes you cringe.

He was about the worst casting choice Raimi could possibly have come up with.Like i said, the guy must have special connections in hollywood or something, thats the ONLY thing that makes any sense how he ever made it there.Thank god this time around they cast someone who CAN act.Garfield is a flexible actor and very versatile. oh and yeah,as i said before,man-spider two was good, mainly because it had great special effects, that saved the film and made it worth sitting through.

The new Spidey movie is actually more in line with the Spider-Man comics (Spidey have the web shooter,Spidey is actually funny, and the movie follows better the comics with Gwen being the first love interest) Thus reasons why people should at least aknowledge that the new movie is more in line with the comics and thats a improvement over the last Spider-Man comics.
amen to that.gives standing ovation.except I think you meant improvement over last spider-man movies.

That's the silliest part about it. It's like everything that's acceptable in the comics is suddenly not as soon as it's turned into a movie. It kills me. I've been seeing this attitude towards more and more superhero films from within the community and I can't understand why. Try issue 1 of Gladstone's School for World Conquerors for free!

what I think is hysterical is all the ignorant people back then who kept coming on saying the mechanical shooters would not work on film or it crosses the line of believability.where are those people on this thread now? I have not seen ONE person come forward and admit that they were just posting a bunch of insane ramblings back then that held no water.hahahahahahahaaa

...Tobey was a bad actor. Not suited to play Peter Parker thats for sure. Spider-Man 2 is the only one I enjoyed out of the 3

thats the understatement of the century about Mcguire and yeah,sm 2 was the only one that was any good at all.

    I bet you'll love it

Well if my feeling is right and its as great as the trailer is,then it WILL be much better than sm2 and your kidding right, that was a joke right? Its a given if its much better than sm 2 it'll easily be better than sm1 and sm 3 since s2 was the only halfway decent film of the Raimi spiderman films.lol.

    Just seen it!

Spiderman II is still the benchmark for Spideman movies.

    I'd give this 7 out of 10.

How do you feel about Peter creating the web shooters, but buying the web fluid from Oscorp?

    Thumbs up

Seen this movie twice now, will see it at least once more this weekend, probably twice which will be four time now!!! Man this movie delievered just like I thought it would. It was 100 times better than those god awful crapfest MAN-SPIDER MOVIES!!!! Only thing I was really angry about was they left out the wrestling scene. That was one of the few things Raimis movies did right that this one did wrong.

This wasnt the perfect spiderman movie i was hoping for.I mean the reason I was not at all unhappy about them not including JJJ and the daily bugle in this movie and thought that it was okay just as long as he was in the second film was they screwed up his origin stroy so badly in the 2002 version.grrrr. so unlike others,I was happy they were redoing the origion story cause they needed to get it RIGHT this time so I was miffed about them exclusing the wrestling scene but unlike the pitiful Raimi movies, this movie had FAR MORE POSITIVES than negatives so I can look past that. the wrestling scene and the continuation of the unmasking of him that plaugued the Raimi films is really the ONLY two major beefs I had with this movie.Like I said, unlike the raimi movies though,I could look past them cause the positives far outwieghed the negatives, thank you Mark Webb.you delivered.

Hal; You aren't actually offering any critiques of Raimi's movies that help make ASM seem better in comparison. You're just splashing arbitrary opinions around and using purple prose to disguise them as facts. Your exaggerations are only encouraging people who might have considered going to see ASM to avoid it outright. Which is a shame, since it can use the box office.
