I hate that green and yellow Rogue outfit.
XPOTM:September 2010
A very good series. My only complaint is that it was cancelled.
Personally, I hated the design aesthetic. I didn't like that style in the Evolution series, and this time around was no better. From a purely technical aspect, it did have the best animation as far as fluidity and that sort of thing, but I'd wager it also had the biggest budget and benefited from modern techniques/technology.
Story wise, it was okay, building up to a pinnacle from multiple tangents, but I just hated the character dynamics. Punking Cyclops and Storm out to Wolverine didn't sit well with me in the movies, and this was just more of the same. Wolverine is a great character, he was my favorite male character growing up, but he works best as the loner/wildcard with a heart of gold, not the focal point.
I did not like what they did with Magneto and Genosha; I follow Claremont's model for Mags, and while he will go to extreme lengths to save his people, I do not believe he would engineer events to 'give himself permission' to retaliate[against humans]. There is enough actual justification for the oppressed rising up against their oppressors (in real life or in the narrative of mutants vs humans). Supporting your enemies to strengthen the support of your followers is just a cheap technique I can't see Magneto sinking to. He's not 'that kind' of evil in my mind.
The mystery of 'what happened to cause the school explode' was a nice device to drive the plot through the season, but the Hellfire connection at the end just didn't provide enough payoff.
I watched the series online just to see it, but when I heard it wasn't getting a second season, I was totally fine with that.
I can only hope the next X-cartoon can somehow match the dedication to adapting canonical stories and that tight familial interaction between characters TAS was able to bring, with the best of modern animation(hopefully with a design aesthetic that doesn't repulse me...)!

Was an alright series, would have been better if it had been allowed the second season. But I love that Lorna was actually shown and given a semi-major role. Same with Emma, though not as good as her anime treatment was.
watch the episode where Angel gets turned to ArchAngel by Sinister, best ep in the series IMO.
Also i liked how Cyclops was handled here... his overcoat should be adapted into the comics.
Yea it was a good show the only bad thing was that it was cancelled to soon and we didn't have the opportunity to see more Jean ,AOA, Nocturne (daughter of Wanda & Kurt), Magik, Colossus, Sunfire, Deadpool ect
well here's the link of some concept art they were for season 2

Perhaps, although it was absolutely necessary. The name of Wolverine will make potential viewers take more notice, unlike anyone else in the cast, or the most of the cast as a whole. The X-Men do not have the same popularity or relevance as they did a decade ago, or even two decades ago. It is sad, but it is the world we live in.![]()
I don't agree with that. While Wolverine has come into his own, it is a bit debatable whether or not he himself is more popular than the X-men, considering that is where he originally became popular in the first place. I thought W&TX got better as it progressed but fell short in the finale. I was not satisfied that the final episode ended on such an open note and I don't think enough of the characters were explored enough to make that last episode an impactful closing. Characters like Storm and Angel were slowly beginning to developed into interesting characters as the series went on and I think a second season could have really put the show up there with one of the best. Sadly, we didn't get that.
I say hell yes! Wolverine and the X-men was an awesome show and one that shouldn't have been cancelled. It was somewhat different from past X-men cartoons in that the whole season had a long, over-arching story that began with Xavier and Jean Grey's disappearance. It offered a very unique take on the X-men mythos and made for some great character development. The Arcangel story as well as the Nightcrawler/Wanda Maximoff dynamic were definitely the highlights. I really wish we could have seen what happened with Age of Apocalypse. There was even a plan to have a plot where Emma Frost's mind was trapped in Jean Grey. Wouldn't a second season have been worth it just to see Cyclops's reaction? Sadly, we'll never know.
But yeah, definitely check it out. It's all on Netflix now. So it's easy to check out if you have it.
