    Thumbs down the walking dead

Hey guys I'm new to comics like I had a spider man comic when I was little and that's it the other day I found a walking dead comic at a garage sale and looked through it now I want the rest.

However in my searches to get all 100 I'm finding not much and what I do find is so expensive or a whole bunch in one book I don't care if they are reprints I just want all the single issues for a reasonable price can anyone please point me in the right direction in my new found hobby and tell me what a good price is thanks

    Thanks guys

You're out of luck. The Walking Dead is one of those rare books in the modern market where back issues jump in price quite frequently. Even the reprints can get pretty expensive.

You will have no luck at getting them cheaply. I literally hit every site I could for cheap back issues awhile back asking on here where to find them. Mycomicshop has some jacked up prices now freaking even issue#95 is already $20 thankfully its at least for a NM grade.

Buy the trade compilations, bud. You can find them for $10 each sometimes, and never more than $15-20

Honestly, this recent "I can't find cheap back issues" thing is probably just people who want to flip them on eBay.

unfortunately in the case of walking dead there are people willing to pay absurd prices for those issues

Looking through ebay, you can get a full set of trades for a pretty reasonable price.

I dunno what the rules are for linking to ebay auctions, but I found this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Walking-Dead...item4604957124

It's not my auction or anyone I know. Just saying that if you just want to read the stories and don't care about "collecting" single issues, you don't need to spend all that much.

which is pretty much my point about people wanting the issues only to flip them.

And that's not even the cheapest route. I think the best option right now is to wait until November when the second compendium comes out. You can pick up both for about $70 and you'll be just a handful of issues behind.

That's pretty much only if you buy it on amazon other wise its closer to the $59.99 cover price of each book.

Ya I don't buy collected editions at my LCS. Cover price is too high.

well that's a whole bag of weird.

I dont' pay any attention to the second hand market, but I keep hearing the prices they're fetching. I can't imagine everyone is buying them up so they can complete their set.
people who give a shit about comics were already on board and people who don't buy the compendium or trades etc. at least that's how I see it.

anyway, there's already a Walking Dead thread. we really don't need two.

what about new comic fans due to the show or people who have just started branching out from super hero books? Not everyone gets in on the ground floor.

If I was new to the series I'd get the compendium.

I have a feeling some of it is this. People seeing what they're fetching on eBay and coming to a comic board hoping they can get an inside track somehow.

I've been into the walking dead from the start, but gave up singles for awhile in college cause it was too expensive. Wish I would of bought #1 when it it was hanging in my LCS for $50 now. I started buying it in singles again recently and was gonna go back to try and fill out the collection cause i thought it would be cool but saw what they were fetching and gave up. Your best bet at this point is to pay up or scour flee markets/garage sales. Otherwise, you're paying top dollar.
