How Come Wolverine, Gambit, & Iceman Never Noticed Mystique's Yellow Flecked Eyes?

In UXF #26, Mystique disguises herself as Psylocke and sleeps with Fantomex. Despite having sex with her, Fantomex reveals that he noticed that Mystique's yellow eye flecks were visible in her disguise as Psylocke.




This raises 2 crucial questions:

1. Who's looking at Betsy's eyes?

2. More importantly, are you telling me that Iceman, Gambit, and Wolvie all overlooked that critical "tell"?

My read was that this was Mystique's ruse to get close to (and attack..?) Fantomex, no that she's been in X-Force passing as Betsy. So, in my reading, I don't see when Wolverine or Iceman would have even seen Mystique passing as Betsy.

That said, I think Wolverine's sense of smell would be the hardest to fool.

But I also like Dr. Sonic's explanation. I guess Fantomex can put it down.

Iceman was only focused on what Raven was morphing down below for him. He seems super picky so I bet he was micro managing the size and girth etc. The other two are usually written as more astute though so I agree it seems odd that they missed that detail.

I was referring to Mystique successful attempts to seduce Gambit, Wolverine, and Iceman without them noticing that important detail. Of course, with that avatar, I understand your ignorance.

Leaving aside the over-debated question of whether Gambit actually slept with Mystique, she had yellow-gold eyes as Foxx, and revealed herself to him before trying to seduce him as Rogue. So, she chose a disguise that would hide her tell in his case.

As for Iceman and Wolverine, they knew it was Mystique, and did her anyway.
