From that perspective, Cassie was almost existing on borrowed time.
O'Grady is dead. He's been replaced by a robot spy.

    I can grudingly tolerate THEM.

To me, AA's student cast are the most generic characters I've ever seen.

You could kill off Veil, Striker, Finesse and Reptyl and not only would I NOT care, I'd be really happy because I'd think that I was getting to read about Julie Power, Lyra, Wiz Kid and Juston and His Sentinel instead.

    THEM I like.

I can say that all wallpaper characters in Academy I like better than the main students.

    Including Butterball.

I was mad when Machine Teen and Rocket Racer left.

Well, okay, as long as you don't bash Hazmat and Mettle. Those two I think are great.

And yeah, I kinda have the same feeling to the rest of the YA after Cassie...

Also, I agree with another poster, Hulkling's codename just flat out sucks. The "ling" on the end of it denotes a little kid or whatever; he's pretty much a grownup now, yes? He needs a new codename.
Sadly, stealing another characters name is a family tradition at least with the children of Mar-Vell.

Genis stole Monica's name twice. Phyla after unsucessfully trying to steal her brothers, ended up stealing Quasar's name for awhile. Hulking at least tried mixing it up a bit with the "ling" at the end.

I would say he could steal one of Carol's names, but I dont think Binary, Warbird or Ms Marvel really fit!

    Couldn't he become Major Marvel?

I like how unexpectedly inheriting Quasar's bands and legacy after his death is interpreted as "stealing his name".

I never got the hate for Cassie(tho she should have been way younger than the rest of the gang: she was maybe 9 years old as a FF supporting char) and I like every member of the YA.

Cassie kinda got what she wanted: her Father back and she died protecting him.

Her death had more meaning than Wasp's or Black Goliath's or Yellowjacket.

    They all died as victims.

O'Grady also went out a hero too (assuming he really is dead and not just a brainwashed cyborg), come to think of it.

I was just mad that Children Crusade made Patriot the scapegoat for being the voice of reason thruout the series.

As if going along with your friends is more important than stopping them from doing stupid stuff.

I still think Cassie's death was very cheap. Heck, Dr. Doom was implying that he wasn't even trying to kill her when he killed her.

I just got more annoyed that everyone went nuts over the kiss when two team mates died. That kinda made me bitter.

Still, her death killed my interest in YA completely.

i never liked the concept. i don't think a real life group of kids would willingly call themselves something like "young avengers." and the team became somewhat redundant after Avengers Academy opened. that said, i had nothing against the individual characters (except maybe 'Hulkling'). i hope they all continue to show up/make a name for themselves; hopefully something less derivative. i'd rather see the future versions of them show up. i prefer Cassie in the Stinger costume.

I call it like I see it.

Wearing the Quantum Bands doesn't automaticaly make you Quasar. It's not a title that goes with the bands (like say Green Lantern). It's just a name Wendell made up for himself.

I think the Cassie hate came from her switching sides in Civil War (leaving because she didn't want to fight other heroes, before showing up again to try and arrest her former teammates), and the way she was written in Mighty Avengers. Everytime she opened her mouth, the other characters looked like they wanted to say: "Shut up, Meg" Family Guy style.

Not trying to diss her or anything... but I do think there was a certain annoying aspect of her that even characters in the book (in MA at least) began to acknowledge.

I didn't find her that annoying in YA. Though, I will admit that warning the FF was a dumb move on her part. I think that's what caused all her hate.

    Still,

Agree completely. In YA she has been fine. In her teen Cassie appearances outside of YA she was largely annoying.

The YAs are a funny group. I love Kate Bishop and Wiccan, am indifferent towards Patriot, Young Vision, and Cassie, and dislike Hulkling and Speed. But on the whole I love the group.
