There’s a rumor making the rounds today hinting that Dwayne “The Rock”Johnson might be close to taking the title role in Lobo. Per some initially dubious sounding information from Bleeding Cool, “The Rock is going to play Lobo in Brad Peyton´s upcoming film of the DC comics. An untested, unknown source opened up correspondance with us, and told us a tale of “a Hollywood party” at which Mr. Rock was a guest, and told some fellow partiers that he was going to take the Lobo role.

Sounds flimsy, right? It is. But when you factor in that The Rock’s Journey 2 director Brad Peyton is writing and directing the film for Warner Brothers it makes a bit more sense. Then came this veiled hint from The Rock himself. Let’s not forget that this is the same twitter account that broke the news of Osama Bin Laden’s death.

In the comic, “Lobo is an alien that works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter. Introduced as a hardened, rarely used hard boiled villain in the 1980s, the character remained in limbo until his revival as an anti-hero biker in the early 1990s, when he became on of the most popular characters in the DC Comics stable.?

I’ve always been a big DC guy, but I have NEVER saw the attraction with Lobo. There have been very few times the character has ever been used in an interesting way and that Warner is possibly moving on his film is ridiculous. DC has such a brilliant stable of characters, the idea of calling up a D lister that used to be a B lister seems like a colossal waste of time and talent. It was better news when there was an announcement that The Rock would be playing Black Adam in the Shazam movie. That’s what needs to be made.

The Rock as Lobo doesn't seem like a surprise, he seems like the kind of safe & easy casting I would kind of expect.

I've read comments, concerning the rumored Justice League film, from other posters stating that DC should stop making movies because of their not so great track record and even went as far as to say how Marvel Studios track record is far superior. I understand the frustration in DC making comic movies that sounds promising on paper but in turn becomes a steaming pile of disappointment but at the end of the day I still hope they would make a good comic book movie. Probably not 100% faithfull but at least to the point where I walk out feeling I've got my monies worth. Also it's still a little too early to judge on if this movie will suck or not.

I also get your opinion on The Rock now. There are casting choices in comic book films I felt were a little off but most of the time they tend to make the role work. The Rock could be one of those actors, the one movie IMO I've felt he wasn't playing as The Rock is Faster.

iv yet to see faster is it good? but yes i may have jumpt the gun a bit lol i dont think dc needs to stop makeing movies the new superman looks good and im 99% TDKR is going to be good for what its worth i like most the dc movies more then the marvel movies.

Those people probably think The Avengers is also one of the best movie ever made too.
