Duh.
Probably not, but if anyone could make it work, it's Dan Slott (Or Peter David. Hell, hopefully he reads this, Alpha should absolutely show up in X-Factor and turn out to be Darwin's biological father or something).
The story is supposed to tie into Amazing Fantasy #15.
The first impression I get from the teaser is that the radioactive spider might have bit someone else, or the radiation transformed someone else in a different way.
Can you tease someone who doesn't even currently exist, with no real clues as to who they may be? Possibly, but I'll get excited for this when I read #692. I'm certain it will be amazing. :)

I'd be especially for it if they brought back some of the ambiguity to the concept. It was actually a pretty mind-blowing "holy crap, what if" situation when it was first introduced. The concept jumped the shark when JMS massively overused it and turned it into basically a canonical thing. The chicken of the egg idea was a brilliant one until they came right out and basically said "nah, it was the chicken."
I'm content for them to basically ignore it forevermore, but if Slott's got an idea to reconcile the whole thing, then I'm for it, provided nobody eats Peter's eye this time.
