Default Could "Avengers" pass the $600 million mark?

Do you think The Avengers will pass $600m and become the #2 movie of all time?

I think it's going to happen, and here's why: Avengers is currently making around $2m per weekday, with $29m until $600m. In comparison, The Dark Knight had reached $473m by the time its intake had dropped to this level and topped out at $533m. This suggests that Avengers will make another $60m. So my prediction is that it will pass the original Titanic release, but not Avatar - at least not without a major re-release.

    What does everyone else think?

Could Avengers reach $600 million? Sure. #2 movie of all-time? It depends on how you track a movie. According to Boxoffice Mojo's All-Time Highest Grossing Movies List, Titanic has made $658 million due to it's 3D rerelease. In it's original run Titanic made just over $600 million, so Avengers could beat it. However, if one counts all boxoffice totals including rereleases, then no Avengers will not beat it.

I bet they're brainstorming a reason to re release it at some point.

Add an extra 5 minutes of them eating. Don't pre screen it, so you can make 60 million in one day before the word gets out.

That movie does not need more added to it, it's already too long.

I think movies today typically get a 12 week run if they are "successful" and the Avengers is at 6 weeks, so $30 Million in that time (an average of $5 Mill a week) is realistic. My guess is that it will stay in theaters for a full 12 weeks...if not longer.

they could just delay the DVD and re release it because it won't be on DVD for a while.

Yeah, I know. Most people wouldn't get excited by: The Avengers re-release, we've trimmed the fat and made it tighter. They could always reshoot the car chase scene at the start to make it good...the car chase, not the movie.

Better to release the DVD when the movie is still being talked about for making a shitton of money no?
Popularity makes people want things, sell more if it's still hot.

People were happy with the movie anyway, i don't think they would like things cut.

wouldn't a re release in theaters get people talking again? the dvd would have to be loaded at that point, but it should be anyway.

According to the Geeks of Doom website the Avengers DVD will be released September 25, 2012. It also seems there will be a 10 disc set released, which will include IM 1 & 2, Thor, Cpt America, Incred Hulk, and of course the Avengers.
