Where you guys, Mr Holmes and Don Jack, live, do women make as much as men for the same work? Are there as many women as men in leadership positions in politics, business, religion and other fields? Do men do as much of the housework and child-rearing in most homes? Do women have complete reproductive freedom? Do the media sexually objectify men as much as women? If sexually promiscuous women are criticized, are sexually promiscuous men equally criticized? I don't know the answers to these questions--I don't even know where you live--but they're a few of the questions I think you should ask (if you haven't already) before concluding that sexism is only a big deal on the internet.

I get that you may not hear women complaining about sexism a lot in your daily life off the internet, but I wouldn't conclude too much from that. People can get used to all kinds of unequal treatment and start to take it for granted. Just the fact that someone isn't complaining doesn't mean she is being treated equally.

Sexism--as I think you're acknowledging--has been around for millenia. How likely does it seem that we've been able to completely uproot it in a century?

I'm a big fan of this run, but I do hope to see much more of the good side of the Amazons, and I understand the impatience that some feminists express with the run. I liked it that when Wonder Woman acted with indomitable will and courage in this issue, she claimed to represent the women of her family ("Meet an Amazon)."

I'm not going to delete or ban because I honestly wouldn't know if I should start with what looks like baiting/trolling and what comes off as insulting and I don't want to wipe out two pages of discussion.

I need everyone to take a step back, count to ten and take a deep breath, though.

It's a hot button for a lot of women, especially here in the United States where women are paid less than men for the same work, where men are in the positions of authority (never a woman President or Vice-President in our almost 250 year history), and where, currently, state governments across the country are legislating heavily against women's reproductive rights.

(That was a very difficult sentence for me to type without a lot more exposition and expletives, btw ;) )

When half the world is female yet only 1 in 7 characters in the JLA are women, when only 1 in 6 members of the Avengers are female, then clearly there is some disparity that needs to be addressed. (ditto with minorities, but that's a different topic)

So let's discuss the topic without rhetoric or name calling, as I do believe it is very relevant to the current comic. It's one of the reasons why the changes in the Amazons trouble some of us - it comes at a time when there is, in some states in the US, a lot of troubling legislation against women's rights that is getting a lot of press.

For those not familiar with U.S. law, abortion is legal, but there are those here who think is should not be and so they create state laws to make it difficult to obtain one, such as mandating unnecessary, invasive testing.

(Again, I can't stress enough how difficult it is for me to explain this in plain terms and not go off on a rant ;) )

So tread carefully. From here on out, anyone crossing the line, be it flame-baiting or name calling, will get deleted and warned.

I said there were problems. Here, most women takes as much as men for the same work, there aren't the same number of women in politics, but our president is an woman, for instance. There are a lot of women in religion and business leaderships. Right, it isn't the same number, but the number may not have to do with sexism. There are couples where the man do all the housework while the woman works outside, and many others where the man helps, at least. Women have reproductive freedom, the only thing is that the abort is not legalized (unless in cases of rape), but this is due to religious ideals, not because they're women. The other two things are real problems, but it's not that much too.

Are you in Argentina, by chance? If so, I see that you guys are #1 on the Social Institutions and Gender Index ( http://genderindex.org/country/argentina ). So, good for you! The rest of us need to catch up. :)

The SIGI only includes "developing countries," so the U.S. isn't ranked, but I'm sure that there is a lot that we could and should learn from you.

I do think, though, that inequality and lack of freedom is what it is even if it's for "religious reasons" (e.g., abortion ban, all-male priesthood).

Well, I like the cover, but I'm still not cool with Wonder Woman always having a sword as a signature weapon. Her lasso should always be her #1 weapon. That's a me thing though. Cliff's art is awesome, as usual.
