Wonder Woman being a literal ambassador always seemed superfluous to me. I like the idea that while she is from a foreign land, she's here to do good in a direct way, not to go to diplomatic meetings at the UN (save that stuff for the non-super-heroes in the title).

Yeah, I see WW doing hands-on humanitarian work, stuff where she's working directly with the public. She'd only go to those suit meetings to tell them how stupid and impotent their politics are.

There's no indication that there's any real threat to the Amazons, so no given 'need' to replace their people. Much more importantly, people have anonymous sex all the time, and many women get preggers that way. So, there's no "necessity" in killing men after sex.
Well, I give that I'm reading inbetween the panels, but that's partly because Azarrello WANTS us to do that. He's fond of skipping past little details... though, granted, that's normally so that you misread the information and he can later blow your mind but also make perfect sense. But the point being, no guy who does it with a naked chick who appears from nowhere in the middle of the ocean will NOT tell people about it. There's really only one way to assure their secrecy... the nueralyzer!

I was saying that their particular society can't be known to the outside world or contain males due to godly edict, so there are certain evils built into that social model they can't be personally held responsible for, yet. The threat from the gods is constant and possibly everlasting, and we saw that as soon as they stepped out of line they were facing a TONNE of wrath. So you can extrapolate a constant threat from above stopping them from changing their ways.

I imagine they'll be atoning to Diana, mostly. And themselves; no way most of the Amazons aren't at least conflicted about the black widowing or having given up their children. A lot of the older Amazons may want to get to know their sons, if they get the chance. I still don't think they'll get involved with Man's World that much, just change internally.

Yes, I suppose as far a gender induced homicide is concerned it is humane. Those goofy Nazi's should have just sedated all those people and then killed them in their sleep. Then there would not have been a problem.

While I pity the Amazons this choice, the only relevant question is - what would Wonder Woman do? And that is how you know what the right thing is.

Apparently the spoiler for zero hour is that she was trained as an Ambassador of War. Sigh.
I took it that she was trained in the arts of war by Ares, which is quite different. We'll likely see her debate with him about human nature whilst sparring. And, remember, in the Perez run Ares was the one who tasked Wonder Woman with her mission of peace. He knows himself and sees her as a possible counterbalance. I always loved that, and hope it's making a come back. It was glossed over since it happened. But we'll wait and see... whether I like the developments or not, I know they'll interest me, which is lovely.

As for the Amazons defending their Queen but not speaking out against the widowing... one was a unique crisis and the other a cultural fixture going back thousands of years. It would be somewhat easier to do the first than the second, because the first one is warriors being warriors and the second one is people speaking out against the evils inherent in their society. I mean, their whole prejudice against men is clearly something that exists to justify their culture's evils. Change is harder than status quo. (I also referred to the babies being disposed of humanely, but I doubt the Amazons gave the seamen slow deaths, which isn't an honorable warrior thing to do.)

And "what would Wonder Woman do" is EXACTLY the point! No way she'd stand for that or participate in it. If she were brought along, I bet she'd kick every one of her sister's asses, tie them up and take them home. But she doesn't show great outrage because she knows that it happened in the past and she can't change that. When she brings her people back, I'm absolutely certain she'll be pulling them up on everything we've been confronted with. She wasn't there, and can't save the dead or give those mothers back their babies, but she can stop it all from happening to anyone ever again. Wonder Woman can make a better world. Which is why she's my hero.
Looking for artists, know I won't find any. That blows.
