It's illegal in the sense that what they are doing is copyright infringement, which is in fact a crime. Same goes for pretty much all other scan sites. And, well, the administration around here kinda doesn't want this forum to have anything to do with that at all.

So, basically, we're not supposed to link to them, mention them by name or give directions to them.

I thought that a site like that has like that runs on archives of approved legal english translated manga.

Yeah, no. Not usually. Really, they get away with it because most people don't take copyright very seriously and shutting them down just redirects traffic to a different one. At the most, they will remove individual manga from their inventory if a publisher threatens them with legal action.

But, yeah, I dare say non of it is actually approved.

Authorities have tried to shut them down, and yeah you can see how successful that was. (It was actually pretty funny in how ineffectual the attempt was.)

Would it be possible to de-blacklist the OneManga forums? The main site hasn't hosted manga since Jan 2011 (it's all dead links now).

Watching Evangelion 1.11 when I thought "to heck with it I'll just look up the origins of the Angels on an evangelion wiki" did that and found out that the Angels are offspring a being "Adam" who's sometimes also classified as an Angels and Lilith who's named after Babylonian demon in Jewish lore and they were made by the clever in an acronym "first ancestral race" (.F.A.R.) which is comparable to the Firstborns who made the Monoliths in the Space Odysesy books.So the reason for the religioussly symbol names is b/c there's a whole ancient astronauts seeding life across planets thing going like in Prometheus.That just kkinda killed my excitement 4 this series on account of the commoness of the trope.Meh,I'll still watch it and see how it turns out/unravels.

The only thing that kills the fun of the series faster than reading the backstory is visiting some of the more fanatical fansites.
