But isn't it more of a hoarder's mindset? Buying something out of a perceived and self-imposed obligation, rather than any desire to actually own it for what it is. You're right, in your case, you're enjoying ASM, so buying it ain't silly. But buying something that you know you don't like, and will (probably) never look at again, that's just throwing good money down the drain. And whether someone's loaded or not, that still doesn't strike me as a particularly smart thing to do.

I suppose it's a hoarder mentality, but you could also use the word 'collector mentality'. I would say that most people (at least most Americans) probably waste some of there money on some sort of collection or hobby. Some people fix up antique cars, some buy video games, some buy jewelry, some (like Schmitty) buy shoes, and some buy comics. For me, just having this:
in my man-cave makes me very happy. I have definitely bought books that I didn't care for (I still read them) to keep my collection complete. I know Patrick donates all his comics to his local library after he's done with them. Schmitty eats all the pages with food on them. People do all kinds of stuff with 'em.
To some. I've heard of some people who buy two copies of every issue, one to read and one to bag. I'm actually one of the ones who buys all the Spidey variants, so I guess I'm guilty of that to some extent. Other than the variants though, I've read every comic I own, including the mucho valuable ones that I've already read in reprint form. There's just nothing like holding the book in your hands.

Is the big 50th issue meant to be a jump on point, or is it suppose to be a big finale to a story building up over the past few years? Hear great things about this title and want to pick it up without having to go get back issues.
What do you mean by that? I mean I know the 50th is 6 bucks, but its like 64 pages, so a buck for around 10 pages is a good deal for me. Though I have one question, is Amazing always 2 books a month for 3.99?
