I voted Post-COIE, Pre-ZERO HOUR. Everything seemed fresh and new then and most of all fun. I collected Byrne Superman, Miller Batman, Perez Wonder Woman and loved JLI.

Silver/Bronze Age Pre-COIE continuity (early 1960s-1986)

I picked 1960 to 1986 but, really meant the sixties and seventies. I feel the first decade (latter part)of the new century was very good as well. 2nd place.
Namor is King! Killraven too. Mantis is the greatest!
Shatterstar is gay. Deadpool is Bi.
From COIE to ZH.
Ironically, I never read that period as it happened. I started reading the DCU with Sovereign Seven, Nightwing and PAD's Supergirl and Aquaman, so I came in just after Zero Hour. My first events I think were Final Night, Millennium Giants and Cataclysm, although I only read those segments that happened in the books I was already following.
I do have a lot of love for the late nineties and all the awesome therein, but I have to say that after reading back issues, the eighties/early nineties inches into victory. New Teen Titans, original incarnation of the Legion, JLI, Suicide Squad, Grell Green Arrow, LEGION...
i always thought the bronze age was the best era for DC. Some very interesting things came out of that era. And it was probably the last era inwhich DC actually created new characters rather then rehashing old ones.

I really like what's being built now but nothing really resonates with someone the way it does in childhood, so in that vein for me its still post-Crisis, specifically the early to mid 90s.
Zero Hour changed stuff slightly in the "present", like making the killer of Batman's parents some unknown guy they never caught (retconned back to Joe Chill in Infinite Crisis), de-aged Ray Palmer, further merged and confused the Hawkman mythos, killed off some more members of the JSA, brought back the Zinda version of Lady Blackhawk, etc.
But the REAL effect / casualty of Zero Hour was what it did to the Legion of Super-Heroes.![]()

For me, the Silver/Bronze Age are my favorite, particularly the Bronze Age.
Though as others above note, think the post-Crisis eras are too finely split apart---while I'd usually just state "1986 to 2011" as the general "post-Crisis" continuity, I'd say "post-Crisis to Zero Hour", "Zero Hour to Infinite Crisis", and "Infinite Crisis to Flashpoint/the New 52" roughly (to cover the major lasting post-Crisis revisions). (And as long as I'm nitpicking, the Golden Age is usually "1938-circa the mid-50s" :-p )
Well I love the golden, silver, bronze, and parts of the rest, but my favorite character is batman, and my favorite batman run is grant morrison's current one, so I have to say post-infinite crisis pre-52.
Grandparents dead - please no jokes
make mine DC, thanks
I have to agree with you here.
I also voted Silver Age/Bronze Age because that's where I started reading comics myself, but I love all eras of comics.
The problem with this poll is Golden Age has a huge disadvantage since most people around here weren't even alive at that time, and those that were alive barely browse the internet anyway.
Having said that, the Silver Age gave us a lot of what are considered the iconic tropes of a lot of the characters today. It gave us the Multiverse, the Green Lantern Corp, the teenage Dick Grayson, the Barbara Gordon Batgirl, Justice League, Teen Titans, a lot of the Superman mythos, etc.
For that alone, it holds a special place for me.
