I have 'Batman: The Court of Owls hardcover' - on the way from Amazon.ca. My first Bat-title since 'Batman and Son', after a 3 year hiatus on my part.

Just picked up Batman: The Last Arkham and Robin: A Hero Reborn. The late 80s to No Man's Land were my favorite Bat-time period, so I am trying to get the TPBs related to those.

This is what I am currently trying to track down (I have VF+ to NM copies of the ones with the *). I've also included a couple of extras (like Nightwing: Year One and Red Hood: Lost Days) that continuity-wise begin in this era. Right now I've been focusing on books that I can't buy new.

    Nightwing: Year One *
    Batman: Birth of the Demon
Batman: Ten Nights of the Beast
    Batman: The Cult (Mini-Series) *
Batman: Arkham Asylum, A Serious House on a Serious Earth
    Batman: The Killing Joke (One-Shot)
Batman: A Death in the Family
Red Hood: The Lost Days (Mini-Series)
    Batman: Blind Justice
Batman: The Many Deaths of Batman *
    Batman: Anarky *
    Robin: Tragedy and Triumph
    Robin: A Hero Reborn
    Batman: The Last Arkham
    Batman: Sword of Azrael *
Batman: Knightfall, Volume 01 (New Edition)
Batman: Knightfall, Volume 02 (New Edition)
    Robin: Flying Solo *
Batman: Knightfall, Volume 03 (New Edition)
    Nightwing: The Ties That Bind
    Batman vs Bane *
    Batman: Contagion *
    Batman: Legacy *
    Nightwing: A Knight in Bludhaven
    Batman: Cataclysm *
Batman: No Man's Land, Volume 01 (New Edition)
Batman: No Man's Land, Volume 02 (New Edition)
Batman: No Man's Land, Volume 03 (New Edition)
Pull List: None. Moving to trade-waiting.

Then I hope you already have the early LOTDK trades then. Because you want those: Shaman, Gothic, Prey, Venom, Dark Legends, Collected Legends of the Dark Knight, Faces, Going Sane.

These are conspicuously absent from your "track down" list.
DC discarded their history, and now has none. DC will always be in the shadows of their past work.

Default Prey: New Edition thoughts - minireview

I received a copy of the new edition of Prey.

Prey is one of my favorite Batman stories and was at one time rumored to be the basis for Dark Knight Rises, but that rumor seems very unlikely.

I had the original TPB of Prey and the reason I pre-ordered this version was because my old version was very old and I figured this new edition would be a quality upgrade.

Unfortunately the opposite ended up being the case despite the fact that DC also packaged in the 5-part series Terror which I already owned also.

I hate to start to a paper rant, but here it is as respectfully as possible.

The original Prey TPB had semi-gloss matte paper, this new edition uses the newsprint paper and for those who read my comments about the Knightfall New Edition vol. 1 know that I absolutely hate the old newsprint paper. I am not going to repeat that rant here, but I am now VERY concerned that DC is going to start using this paper on a regular basis. But I should have done my research before I made the purchase and I now know better than to just blindly purchase reprints from the 80s-90s thinking that they will be an upgrade over the previous editions. This new edition has been packaged up and returned to Amazon, so its not a mistake I have to live with.

With all that in mind, should YOU buy this?
Well if you are ok with newsprint paper and have never read or experienced Prey, then BY ALL MEANS you will not be disappointed. Even if you aren't ok with newsprint paper, but still want the story I would still go ahead and recommend you check it out, because it is a great story. This story also shows how great a villain Hugo Strange can be when properly utilized.
My review of Absolute Dark Victory

If I were a MOD I would ban anyone who uses the stupid word "omniboo."

Picked up Batman: Death By Design today. The artist Dave Taylor was in the store signing, and did me a Joker sketch inside the book :)
Currently enjoying: Batman, Batwoman, Dial H, Detective Comics, American Vampire, Saga, The Manhattan Projects, Locke and Key, Atomic Robo, East of West...

You are one lucky man, I would have loved to have him sign my copy. Seriously, this was one of the best batbooks I've read in a while.

Yeah I was thrilled, it's my first sketch from an artist of any kind and it was cool to get this one. The Joker is one of my favourite characters, and I love the look of this book. Here's the sketch anyhoo:

Is the old Terror TPB semi-gloss/whatever you want to call it or newsprint? Thanks.
