Obviously AvX is doing well. But what about when it ends.

Pre AvX Marvels highest selling monthly was Uncanny which was charting at 56k/ If the tie ins revert to their old sales which seems to be the norm. Marvel will be struggling to break into the Top 30 once Watchmen has been released.

People keep saying Marvel is doing fine. That seems to eb the case as long as they keep churning out event book after event book. I mean lets face it there isn't one non event book from Marvel in the top 20.

In fact in the whole top 30 there is only 2 books that have't had their sales driven by a gimmick and that's Amazing Spiderman, which has just been a hyped storyline. X-Force was an oversized anniversary issue.

So for the people saying Marvel isn't in trouble. I'd love to hear your counter argument.

Because i never thought i'd see the day that Supergirl outsold Wolverine or X-O ManOWar outsold Ultimate Spiderman. Or Swamp Thing outsold Captain America. Or even Batwoman outselling a Bendis Avengers book designed especially to cash in on the movie.

Double shipping everything and major events can only cover the truth for so long.

Oh, look, it's Marvel's bitter ex-girlfriend, posting passive-aggressive status updates on its Facebook page.

Without numbers, these rankings are rather worthless. For all I know, the first title in the list could be outselling by a factor of ten times the second title. Or by one unit. But above all, how can I decide if the numbers are good or bad overall?

Well, you don't seem to be any less bitter or any less passive-aggressive. But you are certainly off-topic and he/she isn't. So he/she wins?

I think that any comic selling over 50K is doing well. So Avengers isn't doing badly (if your estimate is correct). It just means that more comics like Batwoman are doing well. I don't think that the reliance on events is a bad sign either. That seems to have been the status quo for both companies since around 2004. DC has cooled off on that a bit, but that's after rebooting their entire line.

And I'd guess that having Wolverine in the title of a X-book is drawing some of his regular fanbase over from his own title. Dunno about the USM vs. X/O, but I was under the impression that USM hadn't been one of Marvel's big sellers in quite a while which was why they imploded the Ultimate universe.
