How can A Issue Zero Batwoman even work?

Maybe an expanded look at her time in the military and the DADT discharge.

Or maybe how and why she decided to use a Bat name and costume.

Or how she convinced her father on board her crazy plan.

Or how she and her father built/got her tech.

Who was the first opponent she ever faced in costume.

This is the one that immediately came to mind for me

Others could be
- International training with commandos and specialists, taking down criminal groups, maybe running into Crime Bible cults before she even knew what Crime Bible was
- Alice, her story after she was kidnapped, indoctrination into the cult
- A recap of the 52 stuff, stabbed in the heart etc, since that was kid of a proto-Kate that's very different to the one we know now and these events have never been told within the "main" Batwoman series


True Kate has a well established history, but this actually means there's a lot to go back to. As Sombrero so eloquently put it...

about the issue itself, it could be many things, it could be the origin of the father in the military, or more of Kate in the military

Do you guys not care about Renee Montoya? I think her relationship with Kate was one of the best relationships and Kate even looked at a picture of her in the first issue of Batwoman.

Absolutely, me too. I get a bit frustrated when some posters can't see past their own simple needs or philosophies, and don't recognise a nifty idea when it comes along.

It's not about that (for me at least) it's about it not making sense for Batwoman. It's good for other books probably and to introduce new books and in fact it's when I'm going to jump on getting Aquaman in print. However most pressing questions about Batwoman are about her current story arc which I assume and hope will be answered in her current story arc. Like I said before the main question about Batwoman that pops up all the time not related to her current story is 'Why is she so pale?'. And that doesn't deserve a Zero issue to explain.

Another thing is it interrupts the start of JHW3's return to art arc and the finale to the ongoing urban legends story that started with the first arc. I hope it won't 'waste' (for want of a better word) an issue of JHW3 art as well because he's apparently limited in the amount of issues he can do a year. However if he doesn't do the art some people won't buy it which I still don't get. I'm sure they can and have and will find something to make the issue about but I don't think it'll be worth the interruption.

You don't know that. There could be a really good story behind it.

Or it could be just that she likes the look and uses makeup and there's nothing more to it. If *that* is the reason then I'd agree it doesn't merit an issue.

But it *could* certainly be something more complex and something that could make a great story.

Like batGRRRl4ever posted, a story about some of the other cast could be fun.
