Batgirl #10 Preview/Discussion SPOILERS

Well it had been nice the first few pages that for once the actual issue and comic were being discussed, but of course now it has degenerated as it has every single time for every Batgirl issue thread for the past ten months thanks to the usual suspects to smarmy and denigrating insults that have nothing to do with the issue at hand, surprise surprise.

considering that Barbara was raised alone by Jim, and thanks to that wonderful retcon of Black Mirror also James Jr(Thank You GAIL!), that means that she was living all those years next to a serial killer, and she never notice anything, until she had killed several persons already

what does that say of her detective skills?

If only there was some kind of excuse that solves everything like if James Jr wasnt raise so close to her, but well, NEW TIMELINE, we have to roll with that

Are u serious? She did notice something, did u not read Black Mirror? She was the only one who knew James Jr. was bad, and believed that he killed her friend. She really knew when a bus driver who picked on him was slashed the face, because of the weapon that was used. Which actually follows along with them being raised together, them going to day camp together and all.

In Black Mirror he wasnt raised by Jim, he was raised by his mother, while Barb was raised by Jim and Sarah(another character that had to go ofcourse THANK YOU GAIL SIMONE!)
the point is that she was never close with James Jr and barely meet him

and No, she wasnt the only one who believed that, Jim suspected of him, he was the first person that he suspected from, Jim just didnt want to believe it and he didnt had any conclusive proof that he killed Barb's friend

Is the total separation of his family that lets him to kill them all at the end and is what makes the climax so good

the idea that Black Mirror still happen but Jim raised Jr along Barb is just ridiculous cause it makes Barb and Jim look like idiots

Babs was the first one who saw him for who he really was. And the end of the story they talk about how when Jim and Sara took her in and introduced them, was the the closest he's ever came to being scared, because he knew she saw who he really was. Then they talk about when she really knew, and she told him she really knew when a bus driver who picked on him, when he and her were going to a day camp, was slashed the face. Because of the weapon that was used. A matchbox with 2 razor blades.

Oh and theres more in Black Mirror that actually shows that he was raised by Jim at least to some extent, even when he was with Sara, who James would call Mrs. Gordan. Even though it does say that he went with his mom to Chicago. Like when he dressed as the Joker for Halloween, or how when he was a teenager Jim actually put him in Arkham for a night. And it was Babs who told Jim that she saw James Jr. with Bess' key chain and that she thinks he did something to her. Then later when Jim saw him open the chest he grabbed James Jr. and yelled at him to tell him the truth, and it was Sara who had to pull him off. Also there's was this picnic that Dick actually recalled, where Babs supposedly pushed a kid in a pond for picking on James Jr. So not only was Babs around James Jr., and didn't just barley meet him according to Black mirror, James Jr. was around Dick too. Though of course he was, because he became fascinated with Dick because out of all of Babs friends Dick was the most opposite of himself.

And now that im thinking about Black Mirror, Dick mentions how he took Babs to the prom, which at the time was a little weird because there was an age gap between Babs and Dick before, but now its not weird at all because now they seem to be the same age.

Im not denying the fact that she suspected of him, but she was never close to him, even in the rewrites that Snyder added they were just half brothers, and she didnt meet him until much late and this is very important cause Jim even though he saw signs he ignored them cause It was his own son



do you think this would get the same effect if you take into consideration that Barb and Jr are brothers and not half-brothers?

he wasnt raised by him, it doesnt mean that never saw him, thats a huge theme of the book, the separation between father and son

obviously he gets his rights to visit him and get visited by him but is implicit that Jr was mostly raise by his mom

ok, lets ignore for a second the actual story
Black Mirror, Never Happen on the new continuity, at least the Gordon side of the story, there are too many elements that are just gone and that were what made that story work

Its my entire point, she might know that he was a psychopath and dangerous even then, but they were never close as a family, and one part you are conveniently forgetting, she wasnt batgirl when they were together, thats very important cause that is not the case anymore

they were rise together, that completely changes their relationship

then Jr makes her mom go away cause he killed kittens
then barb becomes batgirl
and Jr act more and more psycho
