How would you improve the Superboy book?

ok the Culling crossover totally crapped on all the awesome developmemt we were getting in the new book,and it probably lost many readers because of it,so my question is how can we improve the book or put it back on track.

this is not a thread to bash the book,only to help it.you can think of new ideas,or old ones that could be used to help,but you cant omit anything that has come before,everything that has happened,did happen from the series already.

I think Superboy needs a decent supporting cast. Rose Wilson & Caitlin Fairchild are out since they are going to be in The Ravagers, and the Teen Titans are a given since he is going to be on the team. However, I would like a greater network of supporting cast for Superboy.

We know he is going to be moving to NYC and he is getting his own place, so maybe a non-metahuman friend/neighbor would be cool. He also could use a love interest that isn't Cassie. I'm not saying they have to be together, but I think this character could present some decent story-telling. Maybe a reimagined Tana Moon or someone like that.

Also, I think Superboy needs his own personal arch-enemy. Someone who is really capable of hurting him physically, mentally, emotionally, etc. as well as being a danger to his friends and loved ones.

In a nutshell, it needs a new direction. No more NOWHERE, Harvest, Culling, etc. I would probably also make it more separate from Teen Titans. Any well written, sci-fi-ish adventure direction would be fine, I don't have specific idea on how the book should be. But a new direction for sure.

Pretty much what nj06 and Mr. Holmes stated. He needs a drastic new direction away from NOWHERE, the Ravagers, and the Teen Titans. It needs to stand up on its own. It would have been nice if Caitlin and Rose were supporting characters but I admit he needs to get away from them for awhile. New supporting cast with more normal people to highlight is awkwardness, new love interest who isn't Cassie so as to move him farther away from Titans, and a closer tie to Superman. Sci fi adventure is fine and they can still continue to search for answers regarding his origins. Whats also needed is advertisement. The culling is still leaving a nasty taste in everyone's mouth. Its actually turned a lot of people off Titans and Superboy so I'd imagine some new advertisement is needed to show that there is a new direction.

I tend to agree that he needs the ties with NOWHERE cut. I know occasionally they might show up due to his origins but I think that group should mainly be a foe for the Ravangers and for them to quickly take them out. Maybe with some help with the Titans but I think given their origins they belong to the Ravangers. But they shouldn't touch them once this opening arc is done. Enough already.

As for Superboy, I was thinking the other day about that show from a few years ago Kyle XY how the main characters are similiar. Not follow it but maybe give him a family in the same manner. He's almost adopted by a family, parents and children, that can teach him all the things he missed by being created almost fully grown. Some decent folks he teach him right and wrong. When being selfish is okay and not. When trust is warranted and things he never was meant to learn. I wouldn't mind if some of Superman's foes see him as a way of getting to the Man of Steel. Since his power is telekinesis, other mind powers might be good for him to go against. As for love interests, the more the merrier. Don't tie him down to a single one too soon. He needs a chance to find his Lois. And by that I mean a girl that is amazing in her own right and doesn't need him to make her special. But keep NOWHERE away from him for a very long time. He spent far too much time with that group already.

Get back to the mystery of his third donor. Revolve his current adventures on investigating that, as was hinted at early on.

Get him the hell out of his head!!! He is far too introspective for his own good. I mean if you aren't going to address the issue of his making then don't beat us over the head with how much he wants to know about it or how he is torn between nature and nurture. They should just give him a state of mind and then build off that not this game of half tug of war.

It just feels like he is in such a loop with all of this. Give him a few less character driven stories and just put him in situations and go from there. See how this kid reacts and be done with it (as far as character goes) then let the story play out.


Oh and get him away from TT and all that other nonsense that has been holding him back (worst idea to have 1 writer do it all)

Lobdell manages to get the new Superboy's voice just right, and Silva's art fits the sly humor of the title. My solution would be to insist Lobdell go back to scripting his plots, and to accept no substitutes for Silva unless it can't be avoided. Tom De Falco just is NOT nailing Superboy's voice.

Personally I think losing Rose and Caitlin is going to hurt the book before too long. I know some readers weren't happy with its close ties with TT and the whole NOWHERE storyline, but I felt those two characters added a lot and I'm going to miss them.

Yeah, I agree with that. My fondness of the Caitlin and Rose characters has me rooting for Ravagers to gain a foothold, but at the same time I think they messed up a good thing by taking them out of Superboy. That developing dynamic was really good.

Whilst the clone is still maturing it is stolen by the Agenda who plan to use him for their own gain.

The clone is released before full maturation when the agendas attempt at reprogramming triggers a mental booby trap which him sets off his TTK destroying the lab.

The Agenda then attempt to brainwash the clone first via virtual reality training simulations when this doesn't work as they hoped they resort to bargaining with it promising to release it if it does some work for them, namely capturing teenage meta-humans for them.

After switching sides to the Titans he is captured by a Cadmus team lead by Guardian and including Dubbliex and taken back to the Project where he learns his true origin.

Not wanting to be anyones pawn he escapes Cadmus and helps save Superman from a deadly foe, wanting his answers Superman escorts Superboy back to Cadmus.

An agreement is reached that Superman wont reveal the governments ulterior motives in creating Superboy provided the clone is able to choose its own path. Cadmus assigns Dubbilex to chaperone Superboy.

Is everybody else having problems even wanting to write the name NOWHERE now,seeing as the crossover left a bad tasted in your mouth?

How is he gonna pay for his loft apt? Tim? Become a super again lol?

I think having him in the real world will help quite a bit.

Remember though,this isnt the old SB,this one is very logical,extremely smart,has full TK,and TTK supersenses that the other one didnt have,so his reactions,and ways if doing thijgs will be very mich different.

I think issue 11 is where we will see if they start to straighten the mess they made of the SB book outt.issue 10 is him still dealing with the after effects of the crossover,but it looks like its gonna be fun,fighting dinosaurs is always fun.

Either reveal The Agenda is behind N.O.W.H.E.R.E (such a stupid name wtf were they thinking) or just replace The Agenda with N.O.W.H.E.R.E. (again wtf were they thinking). I stopped reading after issue #5 so ive got no idea which details ive screwed up.

You could even have a epilogue where The Agenda (N.O.W.H.E.R.E) reveal since turning the clone didn't work they'll have to go to Plan B and show a cloning vat containing Match.

I didn't like the name from the start if you are going to pretty much copy The Agenda just use the bloody name instead of coming up with a lame acronym.

I'd still prefer him with classic TTK plus vision powers. this new stuff is just seems too overpowered.
