This has been such a fun title, and I can't wait to see the new Captain Marvel show up in it. Very promising stuff. DeConnick's interviews are always a pleasant read. Also, that page by Dexter Soy is fantastic, in my opinion; very kinetic art.
See, the art looks fantastic and it's clear DeConnick writes one heck-of-a Captain Marvel. However, I still don't know what to expect from this title, other than that Carol's pilot mentality will be front and center.
I REALLY want to pre-order it, but I want details as to what I'll be getting first (the likes of which are normally taken from a comic preview and solicitations). My wallet can't afford for me to take gambles on books, which is very, very sad. I'll gladly pick up this title after I see some previews and/or reviews, but it just means that I can't pre-order the book. :/
I hope this book does very, very well. :)

Uuuuhmm, Marvel Girl?In 1967, Stan Lee and Gene Colan gave Marvel Comics its first hero bearing the company's name when they introduced readers to Captain Marvel, aka Mar-Vell, a soldier of the alien Kree Empire.
Can we establish a hairstyle and stick with it?
All the promo art/covers leading up to this had her with (originally) super short hair and then a pony tail-esque thing and everyone else isn't even attempting it.
So much Spider-man with Carol. This probably means something. Yay.
There's a bit of Spider-Man in all of us.

Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!
....the relationship expert who married a comic book writer, one she met on Warren Ellis' forums, and one whose Wikipedia photo has him throwing up the Devil Horns with his hand. The semiotics of what's mature/not mature in pop culture have no bearing on the individual, so that comment kind of bugged me.Yeah, I like where Brian was going. I think they have a flirtatious relationship, but ultimately, I'm not sure there can ever be anything more than a great friendship between them. I mean, I don't know. Who's to say, really? I wrote something in the script for "Avenging" #9 about how Peter's a grown man who carries a Jansport backpack -- there's a permanent boyishness about him that is a huge part of his charm and what we love about him, but it's precisely the thing that makes them a poor fit for anything serious -- says me, the relationship expert.
Also, while Mephisto may have made the Marvel Universe forget that Peter was in an adult relationship for many years, we fans still remember...
I actually like what DeConnick had to say about the relationship between Peter and Carol. I've been on dates with a couple of girls that liked me well enough, but in the end, my level of maturity meant that we could not be anything more than friends.
I think what DeConnick had to say about the relationship speaks more to what Carol may prefer in a significant other than reflecting strictly on Peter's maturity. She also said that it may get to the point later down the road when she has really explored the relationship between Peter and Carol that it could develop into something significant. Just not now.

That would actually get me to drop Marvel Comics forever.Jamie McKelvie did the design and man -- if it were up to me, McKelvie would outfit the entire Marvel Universe.

I'm all for Carol getting props, but I hope Mar-Vell actually sticks around for good this time.
Nightcrawler, Jean Grey, Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker, Professor X, Mar-Vell, Richard Rider- Bring Them Back!!!
I liked Kelly Sue DeConnick's response to the "premiere female character" question. My thoughts also.
