My favorite part was easily Lois and Jimmy crashing Clark's apartment and going through his belongings and commenting on his life like normal twenty-somethings. I also dug finally seeing Perry, the crazy repercussions Grundig had in mind for the Daily Star and their "star reporter", and the speed of resolution on Nimrod's story and how it's really just his "secret origin".

The Little Man was definitely a step away from some Satanic "sell your soul" bargaining. And Fisch's idea for the Swan bar that all the town's reporters go to was fun and should have legs as a Metropolis "staple location" in the future.

After Lois and Jimmy's normal friend behavior with Clark, my second-favorite part was definitely his "other friends", the freaking Justice League. I like how Bruce is worldly but that could be confused as cynicism, and Clark is noble but that could be confused as naivete. And you get the feeling Grant really likes Barry. Aquaman and Cyborg had no lines! Don't think I didn't notice. I'd trust Grant's Aquaman to be much the same as in JLA: Earth 2. Pretty much the team's "cowboy"-style hero.

    Jordan was hilarious.

This. So much. You would've thought that Johns would have put this kind of necessary information in his book, you know, the flagship title for DC, but I'm glad Morrison picked up the slack nonetheless. It goes a long way to show the humanitarian side of Superman that I feel JLA has been lacking (and now we know why).

I feel like so much was accomplished in this issue, and none of it felt overcrowded. We have the First Superman setup (which definitely seems like it's going to be drawing inspiration from the original pitch for Superman by Siegel and Shuster), Clark's new identity storyline, and the Little Man arming Nimrod with interdimensional weaponry.

And my guess was correct, we got more interaction and page time from Lois Lane in this one issue than we have seen in all of the vanilla book put together. Almost makes me wish this book will never leave the past setting.

Yeah it's almost crazy how this book alone compensates for how mediocre JL and Superman have been, while still satisfying on its own.

Nice quote from Batman. "I don't want to be part of any Authoritative team".
And brings me again why Stormwatch don't tried to recruit Superman. Maybe the subject will be touched in the future.
But the twist in the death of Clark Kent brings you back to the conversation he had with Ms Nyxly and how much important is the identity of Clark Kent for Superman.

I'd just like to take a moment and say how little respect I have for Greg McElhatton as a reviewer. The past 3 issues of Action can not possibly be more different from each other in so many regards, and yet all of them are simply given 3.5/5 scores on this site by him. No matter what happens, he just tosses out a 3.5. Basically, it seems like he pretty much phones his reviews of this book in. All right, venting over.

I just love nimrod and I can't wait to see what kind of crazy weapons he gets.

lois and jimmy were also drawn way better this issue

    yeah that's pretty awful

they should at least rotate reviewers as this guy clearly has a bias against something this book is doing

It was an obvious nod to Authority. But this new Stormwatch isn't really as proactive or "authoritative" as Ellis's Stormwatch or Authority. The concept of the team sort of made them look like that, but from what we've read, they are more of a crisis intervention, reactionary team.

i'm so glad to see that the t shirt/jeans combo hasn't gone away entirely. clark now has his "work" clothes and his "street" clothes.
just one good scene after the other throughout the issue.
morrison is STILL building. never stop, grant.

Felt the same way. Batman was spot on, last line was haunting. Flash as the mediator for the group was great.

This was a good set-up issue, with a lot of nice character moments. Clark Kent's death was a neat, sudden turn, I'm definitely interested in how that will be resolved.

The back-up wasn't really needed, we already know Clark is a great guy. And I'm pretty tired of the little man. Showing up in different places two or three times is mysterious, by five or six it's old and time to progress the character.

And we will probably see more of him. Actually, I really liked how his storyline went for now, because even if Nimrod killed dinosaurs before, I couldn't see him as a real threat to Superman without some twist. I was thinking that Morrison will give him some weapon from the Little Man and I was half right, because he let him fail his first attempt before making a deal with a "devil" (or is it the Devil?).

I wonder how Clark will come back to life. I was thinking about classic 'Superman saved me at the last second', but it doesn't work since he would need to try it just after explosion, not few days later. It would also bring a question why he didn't go for the bomb instead of saving just one person.

Also, like Retro315, I loved Clark, Lois and Jimmy simply hanging out with each other at his flat. I really makes them feel young as DC wanted to, something that doesn't exactly work in other series.

Tell you what, even though he knew batman was Brue Wayne, he didn't know who is Bruce Wayne...

A good thing: Wonder Woman was tall! HOORAY.

I have mixed feelings about this issue. It makes issue 6 and 7 even worse with the entire Nimrod concept: it seems to me that those two issues were suppoused to be WAAAY ahead in the future, the climax of this arc, yet they got shoehorned in the middle of the first arc and now we are seeying everything in reverse. It's like Pulp Fiction done poorly.
But there were enough good and solid scenes to make it worth it, and I defenetly didn't see the ending coming, which is always a good thing.
