Well there is that part just before Clark is blown up. I haven't got the issue on hand but I think the line was something like "Clark, shouldn't you be running about now? This looks like something we need Superman for."
I think Lois knows and I think it fits with the golden age vibe. I may be wrong but wasn't Lois meant to find out Clark was Superman in one of the early original Action Comics but DC didn't publish the issue?
Interesting. I never read it in that way. I took it to be along the lines of, "Hey, Clark. There's danger, shouldn't you be running away about now, you effing coward?". Like, from what I recall, he did in the factory where the terminauts came to life. I think that was #4.
That was (initially) my take on it, too, especially in light of the back-up (although that takes place after issue 11, so...maybe something happens in 11 which makes her think she was wrong about Clark being Superman?)
She was - it's the K-Metal from Krypton story. ( http://supermanthrutheages.com/k-metal/?page=0&w=1280 )Originally Posted by Let's Kill Hitler
This was my first Superman comic I've read since I was a kid (I'm 30 now) and I really enjoyed it. The line where Lois says something about Clark running away read to me like she knew that he was Superman.
Who was the character in the very last pane of the story? The one talking to Nimrod? Like I said I'm new to Superman comics.
Pull List: Ghostbusters, Saga, Invincible, Guarding the Globe, Cyber Force, Hellboy in Hell, Punk Rock Jesus and Happy
He is the Little Guy who have been appearing in Action Comics since issue 1 helping villains and once even warning Superman. He have also appeared in Earth 23. He seem to be waging a war with Superman against time by forming an Anti- Superman Army - most of whom he helped create.
Rehire Grant Morrison for Superman.
Give Lois her own BOOKS.
Keep Scott Lobdell in Superverse forever.
Great issue, ready to see how this whole Clark Kent is dead thing is gonna play out. I must admit, after the first reads, I wasnt that impressed with Action. But before this issue I went back and re-read 1-9, and wow did that make a difference. Havent read anything by Morrison in a long time and have to say he is killing it, Action has went from one of my so-so titles to one of my #1's. Love the fact we still get some jeans and t-shirt here and there.
I signed up to this forum for one reason, to see if anyone can help me make sense of this series.
I collect quite a few comics, about 6 a month, but the only DC one's I get are Action Comics and Detective Comics, though the Detective series is pretty weak and I don't think I'll be continuing it for long. I do enjoy the Action Comics series but I can't fully process what is happening. I see myself as pretty smart and usually good with using logic and figuring out what is going on with things but with this I don't know if I'm an idiot or if there are things I'm missing since I only read that one.
I don't get how the Justice League has banded together, I thought this series was from when Clark Kent was younger and before he got involved in that. Second, I have never seen them mentioned really and then they are together and discussing things. Did I miss something? Also, what is this 'First Superman' thing everyone is talking about? Possibly I should just get all the issues together and spend some time re-reading it all and hopefully making sense of it.
Also, I got that in the previous issue, I think, we got different universes of Superman's but why already? The series has just started and we are getting all these different universes already.
I loved All Star Superman, and I love Grant Morrison, but again I had to reread some of the All Star stuff to make sense of the universe and time differing plot. Maybe I just can't wrap my head round this stuff. Anything would be a help.
And sorry for the extremely long post. Graeme.
Yeah Detective is pretty bad, but it's getting a new creative team in September so maybe check it out then?
No worries, I think the book assumed that people are aware of the Justice league book that comes out. Indeed, this book is set in the early days of Superman's career, but Justice League's origin story arc took place in a similar time, right after the first Collector arc in Action. So basically yeah there's the Justice League book where a lot of your gaps are taking place.I do enjoy the Action Comics series but I can't fully process what is happening. I see myself as pretty smart and usually good with using logic and figuring out what is going on with things but with this I don't know if I'm an idiot or if there are things I'm missing since I only read that one.

We haven't really seen or even know who or what the First Superman. It was referenced in the book, and I think is in an upcoming solicit, but we'll know more about this soon. Also, what is this 'First Superman' thing everyone is talking about? That's Grant Morrison. He doesn't really tread old ground and tell the usual stories. Also, I got that in the previous issue, I think, we got different universes of Superman's but why already? The series has just started and we are getting all these different universes already.
Thank you for the quick responses. I don't think I'll be picking any of the other ones up since I think the 7 I get a month is enough. I will stick with Detective Comics then and see if the new creative team can bring some more life to the series. And I think I shall just reread issues 1-10 again and see if more sense is made from it. But I think it will take until he wraps up the arc to fully understand everything and that is what I enjoy. Delving into the story, and not just being spoon fed a plot.
The reading order should be Action Comics #1-4 and 7-8. Justice League #1-6. Then Action Comics #5, 6, 9 and 10.
Grant Morrison can't even make this series interesting.
