Usually when I hear something like this, I don't really go for it, but this could be a decent idea if handled correctly. X-Men First Class turned out a lot better than I thought it would so I feel optimistic about it.

X2 was sort of based on God Loves, Man Kills (But with Stryker being Wolverine's 'creator' instead of a preacher), while X3 sort of messed up Joss Whedon's "cure" storyline along with Dark Phoenix. So I'm curious how this will turn out.

Wait weren't the 1960's already pretty much like this?

I also really don't get the race issues people seem to have with this film. Darwin died, not because he was black..but because he tried to fight the Big Bad and got owned. The rest of the mutants would of just stood there and watched Shaw teleport away. Darwin was one of the few who had backbone enough to try to confront him. His powerset was also perfect for showing just how tough Shaw really was.

I'm not saying it is completely impossible they killed off Darwin because of race, but is there any actual hard evidence to support this or is it just assumptions?

I'll wait until they officially announce the storyline for XM-FC2 before I comment about that particular storyline.

I would love to see the characters from First Class in the 2nd film (itching to see Azazel and Magneto up to no good again), but we'll see.

I would have loved to see how Marvel would have worked the X-men into the cinematic universe. It'd be like adding in Blade to it also. I think it could have worked. But the premise of them being super powered when Thor and the Hulk are around also, makes no sense to be so despised. In their own Universe I can see Mutants doing their thing since they'd literally be the future of humanity. SO we'll see what happens down the road.

I think this would be a good way to undo the original trilogy, maybe as a love letter to the original as well. Have the X3 cast of Kitty, Collosus, Halle Storm, and Jackman Wolverine for the beginning. Then when they all die have Kitty the ONLY one to go back (in the physical instead of her consciousness), so when they prevent the thing that ends up screwing up the original timeline (no not killing bryan singer in the womb) Kitty dissappears, and the original timeline is acknowledged while giving a carte blanche for the future.

Trying to read Cable's wiki history can cause a nosebleed. If the movies bring in him and/or Bishop, they better not get nearly as convoluted with their histories/futures.

Blade would fit into the Marvel cinematic universe pretty easily, I think. Much more so than the X-Men. It's really hard to explain and justify the way people in the MCU films react to super beings and tech if they're living in the same world that's been dealing with the mutant issue for decades.

I am hoping that it explains the massive continuity holes in between First Class/Origins and the first three Xmen films.
They can do this by saying a time traverler changed a key event in the last film and now the OX Trilogy isn't going to happen so Cable and Bishop have come back to set things right.....

It opens up the possibility for more Mutant films. Here's hoping that Fox branches out and also touches on Gen X, X Factor and maybe some other lesser known concepts that deserve screen time.

Darwin dying wasn't what made me uncomfortable, just kinda sad cause I like that actor. It's the fact that only one female in the movie wasn't evil/villanious by the end, and she's responsible for crippling Xavier, only without the self-defense clause Erik had.

The hard evidence lies in the end fate of every non-white male or female that recieved any kind of attention in the movie. Look at their endings.

    Mystique-Villainous
    Riptide- Evil
Emma Frost-Villainous (and underutilized, but since I've always been eh on her character, I let it slide)
Moira Mcctagart-Considered a disgrace by the CIA, responsible for Charles' paralyzation
    Angel-Villainous
    Darwin-Dead

None of that is assumption, that's just the way the movie played out. The reason I call it unfortunate is that all of those characters reached that point naturally, they didn't shoehorn in Darwin's death, it was there for a reason, it served the plot and galvanized the remaining characters. Mystique and Angel were both tired of feeling like they had something to hide, and so sided with the dude who planned to make them the normal standard. Riptide (and Azareal, but he's red, so he hardly counts) were just flunkies with no character development, not that they needed it, since Bacon's Shaw was more than charismatic enough to cover for them. The CIA had every right to be furious with Moira given what they knew.

So it isn't as if this were a malicious attack on the non-white male/female populace, it was just...an unfortunate aspect to an otherwise outstanding movie. Here's hoping it doesn't crop up in the sequel so that discussions like this don't need to be had.

It's ludicrous to say that Moira was responsible. Yeah she was trying to shoot Magneto....what the hell else could she do? I didn't see a wooden bow and arrow around. Magneto was about to wipe out thousands sailors, he had to be stopped. And most importantly, the characters in the film react as though Erik to blame, including Erik himself.

If anything, Moira should be pissed that Xavier's Superman II kiss probably cost her a career in the CIA. At least, if she remembered it. I wonder if he also implanted the knowledge for her to become a successful genetic researcher.

Besides, it's not as thought he whole franchise is like that. Storm is charge of the school by the end of X3. Kitty Pryde and Rogue were not villainous. Jean...well yeah, she had issues, but that's true to the source material.
