Default Havok and Polaris in X-Factor!

I picked up X-Factor when Havok and Polaris joined and to be honest, I wish I hadn't. Either it's PAD writing or just the very nature of the two characters but it's very clear to me why they were left in Space so long. They really do bring nothing to the story. An already bland cast was just made even more dull by the addition or writing of these two. I seriously which I knew what it was. I know these two characters can be compelling but nothing is clicking. I keep hearing about the story of Lorna's mother...HOW INTERESTING!

Please Peter David! Do something fun with these characters!

PAD's the only one who ever made Polaris more than a one-dimensional joke.

I'm glad Havok and Polaris haven't gotten the immediate spotlight in X-Factor. It would feel like they took over the book if it was all about them. They've only been back for 7 issues. I'd rather they be brought in gradually (which thankfully they are).

He hasn't even really had a chance to use them yet! It's clear that their inclusion post-Schism was editorially mandated, and so he added them to the roster without a whole lot of fan fare (which, like fortyseven said, is a good thing). I imagine they'll have more stories centered around them once he wraps up the plots he had already set in motion.

Completely agree with everyone above. It would make no sense to have them take over and steal the spotlight right away. Besides, despite their limited appearances so far, PAD has been entirely loyal to the characterisation of Lorna and Alex. He's a dick, and she's crazy. It looks like we're about to see Polaris become more integrated with the rest of the team, while apart from Alex too, which personally I look forward to. She has far more potential than him.

The only time I ever liked Havok was in Havok & Wolverine - Meltdow (which is also one of the few times I liked Wolverine). I look forward to what PAD can do with him, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Polaris' roadtrip sounds way more interesting.

Completely agree with what everyone else has said as well. They don't bring anything to the story, because they haven't done anything. At least, not yet. It sounds like PAD has plans for them eventually, but he's not gonna drop all his other stories just to put them in the foreground.

Yeah I agree with this. I think he need to incorporate them into the cast more.

Does anyone else find it weird that Havok isn't cracking up? He watched his father get murdered by his brother, he was tortured and Lilandra died on his watch...I just find it a bit weird.

I'd be more concerned if he was. They were in space for a long while. He's had loads of time to mourn and move on.

You mean while they were brainwashed into torturing and murdering aliens. I think he should be coco bananas. I think PAD might be impling that he is losing it and thats why he's being such a douche lately.

I think she has more potential than most marvel characters. She's a great design by Steranko(a legend), great power set, Magneto's heir, the second X-Woman, genocide survivor, connected to nearly every group in the marvel universe and politically she's somewhere between Magneto and Xavier. I think she's kind of doomed to be one of the most criminally under utilized characters in the marvel universe.

I used to like Havok. Then he was sent through the Siege Perilous and ended up in Genosha with Rahne bonded to him. Then he became a sulky little Scott-lite in the corner. Then he behaved like and idiot after the Age of Apocalypse. THEN he fell in love with Nurse Annie and had the gall to try and get back with Lorna after Annie left the Xavier Institute.

Polaris, on the other hand, is full of awesome and potential. I hope PAD has many great things in store for her.

I like the interplay between the different ways to lead the team that is going on between Madrox and Havok. I had missgivings about their addition but it's been pretty organic so far. Now if they could remember to dress in civilian clothing..

I need scans of him complaining about not being Cyclops.
