Can you imagine the outrage Americans will have if a hero who is all about the USA (whom 6 out of 50 states support gay marriage) came out of the closet?

I'm gonna say pretty much every villain that appeared on the 60s Batman TV series.

I vaguely remember some writer (may have been Morrison himself) discussing the "Joker pinching Batman's butt" scene in Arkham Asylum and I agreed with the assessment that one should not categorize the Joker as homosexual, bisexual or heterosexual as he pretty plainly lost his ability for romantic attachment or any kind of positive feeling like friendship and love the moment his mind snapped. He basically uses sexuality as just another weapon in his arsenal.

I know they've moved in other directions with the characters in recent years, and especially in regard to Juggy, but for a couple of decades the Juggernaut/Black Tom partnership sure seemed to be something other than merely partners in crime.

A majority of Americans support gay marriage, regardless of how effectively the religious right has been in frustrating their will.

I'm all for gay characters being brought in through arts, etc, but there's certain times I'm annoyed when some people interpret a strong bond/friendship with two males as hidden homosexuality. Not annoyed in this particular case, but I do prefer the idea of these two villains having a strong brotherly bond.

You guys ever say the B:TAS episode with Clayfaces's debut. I felt there the relationship between Clayface and his friend could have been interpreted as homosexuality but it was mostly in the subtext as the crew couldn't go that far at the time given it being a kid's cartoon.

Oddly enough, while comics hasn't had too many notables, pro wrestling's had a bunch.

I reckon its because you can't do that spot where their faces end up in each other's crotches in comics.

Golddust used sexuality to confuse and mess with his opponents. People assumed he was bi, but I don't think that was ever really the case. Billy and Chuck started off as a heel team and they were suppose to be "gay" until they revealed they used homosexuality as a publicity stunt. Orlando Jordan wanted to be a bisexual heel for the WWE, but he was let go and he brought that idea to TNA.

Besides those, I can't think of anything else.

Historically, they were never going to say gay, so it was more just effeminate. But that dates back to Gorgeous George.

Much as I loved wrestling as a kid (with all of the spandex, ass-whupping, heroes, villains, and characters it was like a live comic book) it's really not the best place to look for good examples of homosexual characters (or racial stereotypes, or positive female role models, etc.).

Non at all. It's a bit of a homophobic field from what I understand. I remember when the whole Bilyl and Chuck marriage was happening, how many people in the audience boo'd and got excited when they revealed they weren't gay.

Is there something wrong if Captain America came out ? I'd love to have this explained how it would hurt his character.

As Greg explained those were the notable names of wrestlers who used sexuality of being gay at times. It was said that the reason Billy and Chuck dropped the Ace/Gary angle was more for Palumbo who I believe said his young daughter didn't understand it. I believe that was the reason he wanted it dropped was for his family.

With Goldust , when he 1st appeared he really seemed to sell that love for Razor Ramon and had a tattoo of his name in a heart I believe. Which stunned everyone at the time in the 1990's. Of course the WWF then got a bit scared with his character going that way and quickly admitted his real name and his marriage to Marlena (Terri) months later in a shoot style type interview.

In real life I know Chris Kanyon (From WCW) who came out as gay after his WCW/WWE stint ended . He admitted it in an interview from what I remember reading.

I would think it was the single best place in the universe to look for racial stereotypes.
