    Default General Scarlet Spider Thread

So I figured it would be a good idea to make a thread for Scarlet Spider, similar to the super-thread for Spider-Man. Any questions, speculations, discussions, opinions, reviews, and thoughts on Scarlet Spider belong here. I saw some really good discussion on a thread for Scarlet Spider #5, and hope that that discussion will continue here. So, please ask your questions, voice your opinions, and hold nothing back!

I don't know if Harry has showed up in any other title but I'm hoping he moves to Houston to raise Stanley, or Lily and Normie would be ok too.

Interesting thought. I've been looking for Harry's return, especially after with the Goblin Gangs that I believe are sprouting up everywhere. I'm not sure it would be appropriate anywhere but Amazing, though. As for Liz and Normie, I'd definitely like to see Normie's reaction to a violent, more threatening Spider-Man, based on his hatred for the original.

    Thumbs up

I'm really diggin' the new series. I kinda faltered a bit on issues #2-3, but #4-5 kicked my butt! I like the title character even though I'm still trying to absorb his personality. I also like the supporting cast. I was hoping for a road trip with them all when they thought that they should get the hell outta dodge due to the bomb.

Can't wait for the next issue, liking where the story has been heading and hoping to see more of Kaine and his supporting cast grow.

Also I'm hoping even after the upcoming artist change, that the action sequences are still jaw dropping.

Stegman has promised that Issue 6 is his strongest work ever (I may be paraphrasing). He apparently did the pencils and the inks, and from what I've heard it's really good.

Regardless, I'm going to miss him soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much; he's become my favorite Marvel artist, and I may have to subscribe to Fantastic Four just for him. Has anyone seen enough of Khoi Pham's work to prep the rest of us for what's to come?

I'm most looking forward to Madame Web's appearance, as it should provide some of those great Madame Web style clues about upcoming stories in the series.

I think it really comes down to the inker when you're dealing with Khoi Pham's work. He's done Mighty Avengers and Chaos War which were similar looking (iirc). But, then there's his stuff on Daredevil which was less busy looking or looked less complex. Seeing that Scarlet Spider is an edgy book, I guess it'll always look appropriate and good for Yost's scripts.

I could be rambling and have no idea what I'm talking about either. lol

Yeah it's pretty good, but so far, it seems to be kind fo jumping from one thing to the next. I can't wait for the first big story (which looks like it's coming up). What I'm really hoping for some time is the return of Spidercide.

What bugs me is that Kaine doesn't have his very own rouge's gallery... He has Salamander, but since then it's been Assassin's Guild/Belladonna, soon Ana Kravinoff, and later Roxxon and the Rangers (I think they're called that?). Spidercide would actually be welcome as he is kind of a Kaine villain, but didn't he definitely disintegrate during the Clone Saga? Anyways, my point is I like Yost bringing new to life to old Marvel characters, but please add some new Houstonian super-baddies! After all, Layton said it himself: "Houston doesn't have a superhero. And we need one."

I don't think he disintegrated, as you can clearly see his body in the containment tube. But some new villains would be great.

Whoops, you're right I forgot what actually happened to him. A quick trip to Wikipedia set me straight.

I'm sure Kaine will eventually start running into original villains eventually.

I have never really followed a Spider-Man series before but after hearing such good things about this book I gave it a shot and just fell in love with it. And I am really glad it is accessible for people like me that do not know a lot about Spider-Man, even though I was aware of the clone saga before but honestly didn't even know Kaine existed until I read this book.

You should check out The Trial of Peter Parker. It's one of his best stories.

I'll add that to my list. I first want to pick up Spider Island so I have the lead up story to his series.

Spider-Island is a good jumping on point I think. It's where I started on AMS and I've been reading it regualrly ever since.
