Default Smoking Monkey Comics, Get a free physical copy of our book, We pay shipping

    Hey all,
My name is Jeremy and I am the co-creator of a comic book called The Doorman and founder of the comic publishing company Smoking Monkey Comics. I've had 300 copies professionally printed and I want to get them out there to comic book readers. So I've decided to ship them to whoever wants them for free.

All you have to do is sign up for our mailing list, it is at our website smokingmonkeycomics.com, then send an e-mail to editor@smokingmonkeycomics.com with your name and address. After that we'll send you a free signed copy of The Doorman #1. We pay the shipping costs. We will also e-mail you a pdf copy of The Doorman #2.

I'm sorry guys but I can only ship within the United States, unless you would like to split the shipping with me or something. E-mail editor@smokingmonkeycomics.com and maybe we can figure something out. If you're outside of the US you can still get free pdf copies of each. Just sign up for the mailing list on the site. There is also more information on there so check out the site.

This offer ends on Tuesday June 12, so get it while you can!

I hope you all are interested in getting the free copy and spread the word.

Edit: The shipping of free physical copies is over, sorry guys, the shipping adds up quickly, but you can still sign up for digital copies of The Doorman #1 and #2. Issue 1 will be emailed to you right away and issue 2 will be sent out through the newsletter.

    Very cool, just signed up.

Looked at the 2-page previews on your site, groovy stuff. I especially dig "This book doesn't exist. It's all in your head. You're insane.", funny because it's true.

How many issues of The Doorman are you looking to make, and what's the schedule like?

Thanks a lot for signing up guys, I just shipped out the first batch today. Here's a picture, this is what your package will look like.

You should all get it by Saturday. In terms of the book's grooviness, I did try to make it a little weird, by the second issue it gets even weirder, maybe I took it too far in some instances but you can all be the judge of that. The main character of the book is most likely insane, you guys will see when you read it though.

As of right now I'm going for 6 issues, and hopefully collecting them all into a graphic novel later. The schedule is basically whenever I finish writing and when Lucas, the artist, has time to draw it and ink it, then I letter it all. We both work pretty fast but it still does take a little while. I pretty much finished writing issue 3. I'm going to send out a pdf of #2 through the newsletter after I'm finished doing this promotion, and you've all read #1, so you can all keep reading. After you've read it feel free to send me an e-mail with your thoughts.

Also, I just want to let everyone know, I'm going to stop doing this next week, on Tuesday June 12. As much as I would like to keep it going forever, the shipping does add up. If someone has any ideas for cheap shipping post it here or send me an e-mail, then I will keep it going for longer. After that I may still be e-mailing out digital copies. I'll update the first post with this information.

Thanks again guys I hope you enjoy the book

Got mine today, thanks again! Read it, very much enjoyed it, imaginative stuff, it's got a nice sinister vibe to it that is fun. Ha maybe that sentence had contradictions in it, anyways cool stuff.

Anyways, are you looking into other ways of selling issues 2+ than graphic.ly? Personally my fav digital comics style is clickwheel.net, where when you buy it you get to choose between a pdf or a cbz (the jpg files in a zip) to download. I prefer cbz, or even just the jpgs, since that's the easiest way to read them for me, not big into apps etc.

For example if you did paypal or something on your site for people to buy a download code for a CBZ or whatnot from you, that'd be a cool method.

Thanks for signing up groovemachine, I'm going to send this next batch of books out on Monday. Also good idea about Clickwheel psychogoatee, I didn't know about that site. I'm not too fond of graphic.ly. They changed their business plan from being selective about what they put up to letting anyone upload what they want and then charging $300 to make the book available on ipads and such. I'll probably just take it off graphic.ly, I feel like its turned into a scam.

Also if anyone has a store or something and wants bulk copies to hand out for free at their store e mail editor@smokingmonkeycomics.com and I may send a bunch out to you, I would need proof of your intentions though. One more thing, if anyone wants to help out creatively at Smoking Monkey Comics, e-mail me too. It may help to have some more people on board helping out with things and maybe we can get some more series out.

Thanks again guys, and keep signing up for mailing list, I have a lot more books I want to send out!

Hey Jeremy, I love what you're doing here and wish you the best of luck, man. I don't want to take a physical copy off your hands but I'd love to read the PDFs if you're still sending them out. Cool video, too.....very Tarantino-esque :)
