I enjoyed X-men First Class and I'll definitely give the sequel a look, but I still have extremely low confidence in Fox to make decent X-men movies. For all the praise X-men First Class got, it was didn't match the gross of the scorned Wolverine Origins movie and no one ever really came out and said it was a reboot even if it directly contradicted numerous aspects of both Wolverine Origins and X3. This gives the impression that Fox really doesn't care about continuity in their movies and is just churning them out for the sake of maintaining the license. One well-received movie is not a trend. First Class may have been an anomaly and given Fox's track record with X-men movies, I think any optimism should be cautious at this point.

If you watch the rather long and very good making of documentary on the XMFC Blu-Ray, you see that they do have continuity with X1 and X2 in mind, and even bring it up a number of times.

Does this mean that Storm is 40+ in X-Men (2000)?

Exactly! They need to strike when the iron is hot. The days of taking a few years to put out a superhero movie (sequel or otherwise) are OVAH!

Too young for mother. It's clearly Storm's older sister, Windy Plops.

I know and I don't contest that. It's X3 and Wolverine Origins, the two movies Bryan Singer didn't work on, that contradict First Class. A flashback still showed Xavier walking and working with Magneto when they recruited Jean Grey. Emma Frost showed up (according to the credits) in Wolverine origins as a teenager. Plus, Wolverine origins took place mostly in the 70s during the Three Mile Island affair. Before that, he was living in Canada or with Weapon X. Yet Xavier and magneto confronted him in First Class. So there are inconsistencies that weren't addressed and that's where I draw my skepticism.

I think the studios are well within their right to ignore Origins and X3.

    The sequel needs more James.

I hope they start a tradition where Charles recruits a few young kids, keeps the white ones and the rest get to go over to Eric. It'll really make the Martin Luthor King/Malcolm X comparisons so much funnier.

As long as one of them is Polaris, in think that's fine.
