I voted no but I really think it go either way. I think Avengers might have a bit of an edge simply because it's more suitable for a wider audience and it was built up for 4 or 5 movies.

Though Rises is the last of the Nolan Batman movies, the end to an epic trilogy, that might count for something.

I agree. With that being said, I'll still likely see it more than once.

Regardless, I doubt the dark knight will beat the avengers. Spiderman comes out less than three weeks before it, ice age, etc, etc. It has a lot more competition.

Just throwing this out there but food for thought. Everybody who saw the Avengers also saw a TDKR trailer before it. Second, both times I saw the Avengers during the previews everybody in the theater stopped talking for the Batman trailer and gave it an ovation at the end.

Superman is bright and colorful, Flash is bright and colorful, but Batman? come on. Batman is the definition of dark and brooding. Sure in the Marvel U Tony Stark is under fire, the X-Men are constantly a source of distrust, Punisher is just a nightmare in the publics eyes. However, you didnt mention Captain America the stars and stripes in human form. every man wants to be him and every woman wants to be with him. He doesn't hide behind a false ID he is out there for everyone, good and bad. The Fantastic 4 are revered anywere they go! Not only do these hero's enjoy adulation but they do so without hiding their true ID. Other than Green Lantern and WW I cannot think of a single DC character that is not hiding behind a secret ID. If DC is so accepting of their meta humans, why the need to hide themselves?

Although your point about scripts "mostly suck" is one thing we will agree on. I havent seen a DC movie that I enjoyed. Even as a child I had problems with the Chris Reeves Superman movies.

Was looking for that option myself.

Seriously why do people seem to be so obsessed with which movie makes more money? It has no effect on any of us at all other than silly fanboy bragging rights "my favorite movie made more than yours!" Shouldn't we be asking something more important to us as fans, such as "which movie do you think will be better?" But to answer the question, I don't think TDKR will beat the Avengers I think it'll come closer to it than some people are predicting it will but ultimately those higher 3D prices will give the Avengers the win.

You want to talk loyalty to the source material? Watch the X-Men trilogy and get back to me.

And the scripts suck? Did you see the Hulk movie with Bana, Connelly, Nolte? One of the worst movies I've ever seen. EVER.

Your kidding me, right? Everything you said is no where right or truth. DC movies do better then Marvel.
DC movies and comics are more darker. The crimes are about child murders and molesters Marvel doesn' even come close.

If Spiderman comes out three weeks before that's enough time for TDKR to reach number one at the box office and lose the rest of competition. Within three weeks ppl would have already seen Spiderman once or twice.

Which is basically hero gets taken down by a much stronger ruthless antagonist only to rise up again. There's probably more to the story but that's the story they are selling.

    And I'm okay with that.

I'm more interested in the character work. That's what people responded to in the previous Bat movies and that's what people responded to in Avengers.
Good point. It turns out that I'm the one that was mistaken.

All that led to a building of mystique before the Dark Knight was ever released, the combination of the mystique, buzz, and the fact it was phenomenal led to its billion dollar success.

The Dark Knight Rises has Buzz and the belief it will be phenomenal, but it doesn't have the mystique THE DARK KNIGHT had. (EDITED: Didn't mean to say the avengers had mystique, it didn't.)
Mystique in and of itself can't be the sole reason for it's success. Repeat viewings would have to be a huge factor as well. I disliked TDK and I disliked The Avengers though I can sort of understand why it made so much. Provided TDKR has plenty of stuff blowing up and people running around, I am sure it will rake in the dough in NA.

Back to topic: TDKR will be a success, but not even close to Avengers. TDK was a good movie, but it had several faults. A huge part of the success and the reason I have seen the movie several times despite its faults was Heath Ledgers performance (and I am sure that for some people the circumstances of his death provided more reason to see the movie).

I know several people who were excited about avengers several months before it was released, even last year I heard comments that they were waiting for the movie. I do not hear that same about TDK, I am sure a lot of people even do not know it will be released soon (the same goes for spider-man, btw.)
Yes, I'm serious. Its my opinion.

As I said before ppl who was curious about his death went to see it but they didn't go to see it more then once. He didn't have a Big fan base. Ppl went back to see it b/c the script was unbelievable, the actors, and Ledger performance as the Joker. There was so many twist and turn in that movie that made it great.

That cannot be true. Ppl do know that there's the TDKR is coming out. It was a preview in the Avengers movie and pretty sure others and YouTube advertisers it. "The group" of ppl that you know is irreverent and isn't a strong sense of proof to me.
