-The most popular comic hero ever
-Bane, A catwoman who is more well known than every Avengers rogue combined

^^^It took a team of all of that to lose to the Avengers.

The movie's been out for eleven days. It will hit a billion bucks worldwide, guaranteed. Are you a shill?

I hope not. Ted did better than The Amazing Spider-Man this week.

I'm with you both on the tracking shot and the Phantom Menace ending. But I also can't find myself too annoyed by the TPM ending. At that point in the movie the true conflict of the film, the Avengers inability to work together as a coherent unit, had already been overcome. The battle itself was spectacularly staged, the characters who Loki hit the hardest all got a piece of him. It doesn't excuse introducing such a big huge threat and then deus ex-ing the defeat of them. But in the moment in the theater I was so caught up in the greatness of the finale battle, with the humor, the well directed and coherent action sequences, that I gave No Damns on that day.

You are missing one important factor. Avengers did not have to deal with the shooting in Colorado

Unless the foreign gross unexpectedly shoots up, I guarantee you the film will have a tough time making over $800 million at this pace. The first two weeks of release are the best indicator of how it will pan out because of the drop afterward. Domestically it raked in $64 million the second week so expect another 30-40% decrease next week as well.

Here's the breakdown weekend to weekend: http://boxofficemojo.com/showdowns/c...psuperhero.htm

Edit: I didn't expect TDR to beat Avengers because it's a huge movie event with mass appeal (that had a five film build-up and was never attempted before). However, I fully expected it to do better than Inception which it may not beat. The film is far from a "turkey" though.

due to the shootings i feel like it really hurt TDKR's chances... but all things considered, it was so much better than Avengers

It may end up doing better internationally than The Dark Knight.

TDK wasn't released in China and it's a pretty big market - Avengers made $85m there.

I'll admit to that if you admit to the only reason Dark Knight made the money it did was because of Health Ledger's Death. (let me guess you can't?)

DKR is destine to not do as good as DK. Just like how TA2 is going to be destine to do worst than TA, the bar is set too high.

But as far as I know people are still going to watch DKR, I just heard more negative reveiws from friends and family about DKR than from DK.

Ironic and sad how one Death rises Batman's Box office then another Death drops it? back to back right?

    They are both great movies.

I don't know about him, but I certainly wouldn't admit to your assertion being accurate, as it is an unprovable point.

Agreed. It just made people realise more how GREAT the Joker role was.

Well, looks like I was wrong. The film has now made $835 million, with two strong weeks in a row. While it most likely won't make as much as TDK, its come fairly close and has still done really well.

Not surprised. It is a truly well done film, I think.
