This series is continually amazing and this arc has been no exception. Just look at that art!!!
I hope they collect all three volumes in an omnibus.
You are an apocalypse dreaming of butterflies
and
we are a patchwork of miracles.
I'd buy it.
it's pretty hard to get people to talk about this comic on this board, and this issue is no exception. hell, I don't ever really know what to say.
I feel like each time an arc ends, it almost takes the next arc for the realities of what happened to properly set in and take shape.
Ba' drew the hell out of this thing, I know that much. other details were a little hard to figure out at times.
thematically it hit me like a ton of bricks. those last pages... I was just... if ever life had an echo, this was it.
but uh, what did you guys think of this? did anyone read this? is there a thread on it I missed?
There's no thread for these things, and every time a new issue comes out, I forget what happens in the last one. Reading Casanova on an issue to issue basis is just like watching a fireworks display of insane comic bookery happen before you eyes. You kinda get it, or you kinda don't, but it doesn't matter that much. It's clever and pretty and silly and amazing, the way no other comic book is right now. Bring on California!
I really like that you don't get each issue on its own... it demands re reads, which really benefit the work as a whole. each time I re read it I find something I missed before and at $5 a pop it definitely helps me feel I'm getting my monies worth.
Last night I began reading Casanova for the 1st time from the beginning. By the middle of the 2nd issue I'm struggling to stay interested. Nothing wrong with the art but theres something I'm just not connecting to. Maybe its the lead character or it might be Fraction trying too hard in being quircky and clever . I'll hang in thru the first arc and assess continuence then
I don't think Casanova is for everyone. It should be, but it probably isn't.
It really does take some issues to really get what he's doing and understand it, I think.
I,however, was sold by mid way through the first issue way back in the spot color days.
