I would hate to see Didio leave as I have enjoyed quite a bit of comics during his tenure and has never came off as anything other than polite and courteous in interviews, but if anyone would replace him, I would like it to be someone that I don't remember seeing in this thread:

    Keith Giffen

The man has been in the business for a long time, has done so much in the creation of comics from plotting, art, writing, layouts, etc, and seems to be well liked by creators and fans. Now I'm not sure how well suited he would be for the position, but he's the name that comes to mind for me.

If you like your heroes to be evil then Didio Comics is the place for you.
This could be the greatest most truthful post I have read on these boards.

OK, hired him back, then. And since Harras has hired Liefeld, Lobdell, and Mackie, could Land be far behind?

Didio's the kind of guy who hates any of his writers if he doesn't like what they do.

    That's why.

Yeah, but he was actually a good artist whilst at DC. His early BoP work was high quality.

And then he went to Marvel and started tracing porn scenes...

He was already a tracer though, he was just less obvious/lazy about it.

'The marquis. Well, you know, to be honest, he seems a little bit dodgy to me.'
'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."

No. But I heard about how vocal he was about his hate for 52.

you mean that interview with Waid right, well i think someone approached Didio about that same thing in another interview and his response was that he always felt proud about it

but he is also famous for micromanaging alot and is not a lie that if there are certain writers that would return to DC if he wasnt in charge

Oh, this again. As I've said before, everything gets taken out of context. DiDio said that "52" was supposed to be focusing what went on during the missing year. The format was supposed to be like "Countdown To Final Crisis". Not in terms of quality of content, but in format. This is apparent in the first volume of "52" when you see more of the DCU than you do in volumes two through four. This is why issue #50 was given a four issue mini-series which featured all the big changes that were supposed to happen organically. DiDio's anger was about how the series was not doing what it was supposed to. Hence when he said that "Countdown" was "52" done right. But this was at the start of the whole thing and not midway through the series.

Ah, that explains a lot. I've often wondered what DiDio meant by that comment, and it basically turns out to be yet another urban myth.

    Thanks for the clarification, Mat.

Not an urban myth, but misinterpreting what was really going on and filling in the blanks with their own opinions. Certain fans will latch on to something and take it totally out of context. If you read the "52" trades, the writers all verify that the story changed from it's original intent. Rucka and Waid both speak on it. When trying to get to the truth of the matter, one must look for all known statements from both sides. Then sort through it to find the truth. Neither side is lying, but they only speak to what they saw and heard on the subject.
