Default Frankenstein Agent of Shade #9 Spoilers

    Spoilers

I've been Reading Frankenstein AOS from the begining and my appreciation for the book has wavered at times but I have to say that the "Spawn of Frankenstein" story in issue #8 has been my favorite so far. I just loved how Lemire finally gave us some depth to Frankenstein's character by bringing us the story that caused the seperation of Frankenstein's marriage. However, I actually want to talk about issue #9 and the art. Issue #9 is probably one of my favorites in respect to the art. I recently have found some of the pages in the previous issues to be lacking the detail of the first stoy arc of this series. At first I blamed Ponticelli for perhaps rushing his work or becoming lazy at times but then I realized that issue #9 has a new Inker with Wayne Faucher. I believe that Ponticelli did his own inks for the first story arc and afterwords they brought in a new inker (perhaps to help Ponticelli meet deadlines). This issue has helped to remind me just how important the job of the inker is in comics. Did anyone else notice an improvement between issue #8 & 9? I think my favorite scene in this book was the look on Frank's face when Nina placed her hand on his. It showed a softer side of Frank that we normally don't see. Anway, I'm still enjoying the series overall and wish more work would be done to give the supporting cast members more depth of character. The other creature commandos (with perhaps the exception of Nina) still feel shallow to me. I'm also a little nervous about the new writer coming on as I'm not familiar with his work but am glad that Ponticelli will be staying on.
Pull List: Transformers, Green Lantern, Batman Inc, Justice League, East of West and Deathmatch.
