Captain America & Hawkeye #631 *Spoilers*

Wow. The CBR review (click here) is exactly, point for point, how this chapter of the Dinosaur Arc read for me. Fotunately for those who did not read Carnage USA, Hawkeye explained his choice of sonic arrowhead as goto arsenal against symbiotes, even dino-symbiote types, and Cap took time to express aloud the hazards of a merging given that not everyone has read Carnage USA. Unfortunately for longtime fans of the 2 heroes, this also lent to the awkward simplistic dialogue the reviewer observed.

And what's with neglecting to title the story. Do we assume it is "CAPASAURUS REX!" taken from the blurb in #630?

I do still like the use of Stegron and Ms. Vennema so far. Hopefully, they will not uninspiringly tie in AIM or HYDRA or ROXXON or some other cliche criminal company that pop up willy nilly as the easy foil. As it is, it is very hard to accept this extant of taint of the Dire Wraiths already back on Earth, suddenly and so soon, after their return in Annihilators. Bad enough that SWORD has let that lone DW slip under the radar and join DOA.

Too bad Hawkeye only had one sonic arrowhead. I feel bad for those merged children. Maybe Stegron's magic wand can help - do we know what it is?

I want someone to write a Cap-Wolf vs Dino-Cap story.

I have to say, I think the CBR rating is too low. This issue is a fun team-up with Steve and Clint, the Dinosaur symbiotes are fun and its nice to see both Stegron and the People (who are an old race, that being who Stegron is referring too). There are nice nods of continuity and its fun.

The art, I can see, may not be everyone's cup of tea but I don't 8really* see why a fun story only deserves 2 stars. Its not a master piece, but nor does it pretend to be. Sometimes I think reviewers forget comics are meant to be *fun*. I am very much enjoying Cullen Bunn's writing and look forward to the end of this arc and then seeing Cap and Tony team-up for a night on the town.

    Cheers.

This. Well said, James. It's a fun story with great writing and art. It's not a trailblazer. But it doesn't disappoint. And I know for a fact that I will be able to repeatedly read this story arc and enjoy it every time.

Captain America & Union Jack next, please! Or Captain America & Captain Britain! Or Black Knight! Or Death's Head! Someone British, at least!!!!

The art is ugly and too dark. The story content is something Wolverine would have to deal with, not Cap and Hawkeye. Bunn doesn't really write either character strongly, both are written in a generic way. These issues have made no impact and there is nothing to be gained by reading them. I can't see this title lasting long with this creative team.

is this book basicly a new Marvel 2 in1?

Hawkeye needs to get over his problems with spidey.

I don't think Hawkeye has got any problems with Spidey. They just have one or two similar traits that clash, sort of like Spidey and Johnny Storm. I liked the dialogue they shared in New Avengers #31.

Between this and the recent Avenging Spiderman Clint seems to have a chip on his shoulder. Maybe he has still not getting over Spiderman being right about killing Osborn.

I started a thread about this exact same thing. It's called What's Hawkeye's beef with Spidey?

I think most writers have disregarded the Osborn angle. I know I have.

Clint has always been a character with a chip on his shoulder. There's nothing new there. Whether it's Cap, Iron Man or whoever, he will challenge them. With Spidey, I think it's more a case of one-upmanship. They're both underdogs. They're both fighting for approval. They both like to goof off. They both view Cap as the pinnacle of superheroes. The difference between them is that Spidey doesn't usually let his jealousy conquer him, where as Clint can be a bit of a jerk at times. And that is something that has been reflected in Marvel for decades.

Besides, Hawkeye isn't the first character to be annoyed by a comparison with Spidey. Wolverine, Human Torch and Daredevil have all had it. Spidey is the top character in Marvel. It sort of comes with the territory.

Yeah. Cancel Cap And then bring back that title. MTU had its multiple shots anyways.
