Default Why has there never been a Godzilla anime or manga?

It's occured to me how the most famous kaiiju of all time has never gotten his own anime or AFAIK it a manga. And now that he's temporarily retired ever since the "Final wars" movie now would be the perfect time for that wouldn't it?.I mean IDW has been giving him is his series of sorts.Wouldn't Toho love to use a manga a/or anime as a testing grounds to see what would work best in a Godzilla movie esp.just in case Warner bros get the reboot 1st?.Aren't there tons of Japanese writers and artists who'd like to give their own try on Godzilla?.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godzill...ated_series%29 (It's not made in Japan, but according to the only definition of anime that counts (the Japanese definition), it counts as anime.)
