Yeah, I was surprised by that.

Really though I think this story should have been longer than two issues, it just felt too rushed. My biggest disappointment however was how easy those involved folded, I was really looking forward to seeing the Vulcans attempt to logically rationalize their lust for revenge. There was a great opertunity to really show the Vulcan thought process but instead it was something that was only given a brief lip service to before the Vulcans realized the error in their ways. It was a total cop out.

Yeah, this could have easily have been a three-parter, but I think they're on a tight schedule to do as many reimagined stories as possible before Star Trek XII, IMO.

I think one of the drawbacks of doing a series on an ongoing TV or movies series is that they really can't do anything too extreme with the characters because they have to maintain the status quo of the onscreen production. In a way, the staggered mini-series format that IDW abandoned in lieu of an ongoing monthly format would work better for this Abramsverse Trek series.

There's greater creative freedom with a series like TNG, DS9, etc., because the odds we'll see new onscreen adventures of those shows range from slim to none, IMO. An all-new series with totally new characters--as Marvel did in the '90s with Star Trek: Starfleet Academy--could even push things further as they could kill off main characters whenever a story demanded it.
Always remember this stuff isn't real.

I was sad there was no thread on #9. If you liked the original series, you may find the reworking of old stories in the new time line interesting.

Thats what I think makes this series so interesting is that its new stories being told like from what I have heard so far you don't really see Spock in bed with Uhura ever actually you never see Spock in bed with a woman at all. Thats one thing I find interesting about it.
