This was just old school superhero goodness from the first page to the last.
Always remember this stuff isn't real.

A fun first issue, but I couldn't help but think of the one issue I got to write of Stan Lee's Alexa, back in 2005. It was about a comic publisher (based loosely on Stan) who convinces alien giants to become real-life superheroes--and then gets them under contract to be the stars of a comic based on their adventures. Unfortunately, they turn out to be the bad guys. I'm curious to see what comic-Stan does when he meets the superpowered aliens in Mighty 7 #2...

I wrote about my experience on Stan Lee's Alexa here: http://www.starwarpconcepts.com/?p=1037

Looks promising, is it bi-monthly? Hopefully this gets a solid run.

It is bi-monthly! Going back into the story to make that more clear. Thanks!

"And nothing phases him, no matter how difficult the drawing may be."

I bet Stan, professional writer, actually said "nothing fazes him".

This really is basic English. The word "fazes" sounds the same as "phases" but one word fits and makes sense in Stan's sentence and the other does not.

Look them up in any dictionary. Or if that's too much bother:

    PRIMARY MEANINGS OF:
    phase
1 nv any distinct time period in a sequence of events
2 n (physical chemistry) a distinct state of matter in a system; matter that is identical in chemical composition and physical state and separated from other material by the phase boundary

    DEFINITIONS OF:
    faze
1 v disturb the composure of

"And nothing phases him, no matter how difficult the drawing may be."

So what do we think Stan was trying to communicate here? That Mr Spock's raygun wouldn't work on Alex Saviuk?

Strike a blow for English! Correct the mistake! Don't let it faze you, fix it and move on! :)

"The reaction was tentative, with maybe a third of the capacity crowd clapping in approval and the rest remaining politely silent. DiDio was unfazed, admitting that the UK was where the material was, in many ways, "most personal." "

So says James Hunt at http://www.comicbookresources.com/?p...ticle&id=38764

And yet (unless there's some horrible mistake caused by my browser secretly caching an old version of the article) we still have Stan Lee being mistranscribed as follows: "I know Alex's work. I know how well he can tell a story. And nothing phases him, no matter how difficult the drawing may be"

Stan knows the difference. No way he said "phases"; he said "fazes". Two completely different words that sound the same. But the context makes it crystal clear which he meant. Any reason NOT to fix it? I'll delete all these posts afterwards, promise!

One of the oldest unwritten rules of the internet, pretty much it's that you don't have to keep posting the same thing just because it didn't get a reply. Your first post is still there for people to read if they want to.

Wooo! Issue two is even better than one! We finally get to see villain! And the stuff Stan and the seven get into is pretty fun. Plus, I also loved the page when they entered Hollywood.

The author of the article, I assume, reads this thread, yet has not yet corrected "nothing phases him". Why not? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

I found the first issue of this to be hilariously, charmingly old-fashioned. It's not "good" but it's entertainingly not-good, in that way that a lot of cheesier old comics are. I particularly like the dude with the shades and jacket, who looks like your grampa's idea of what kids are into. And the fact that Stan unapologetically makes himself the star of the comic (but then, Stan Lee is always the star of any given Stan Lee comic).

I actually reviewed it here...plug plug plug.

Apparently no one else is fazed by the blatantly erroneous grade-school misuse of "phased" in this article?
