Do we know she didn't feel the same? Sure, I don't blame Steve for falling in love. But dating is give and take, and hard enough within a culture. Dating across cultures is often much more difficult because one's cultural norms are not always shared by the other. These things take time and patience to navigate, not, "Say what I want you to say right now or I'm walking." He chose to behave poorly there.

On the hand holding and the relationship, I agree with others that Steve seems to be pushing Diana into an area she is completely unfamiliar with and getting angry. I hope he figures out that her coming from an island cutoff from Western society means she's not going to act like a woman from a Western society. Makes me feel bad for her in this regard. She's in love with a man when she may never have seen one before and has no idea what that is supposed to feel like. Much less how she's supposed to act. He's not accepting her as she is but instead projecting on her what he wants her to be. And so self absorbed in that regard he doesn't seem to realize what he's letting go of.
This is usually a problem with the men that women chooses to develop a relationship with, they have their ideas, but the woman may not align with those ideas; she than tries to become those ideas after the man has rejected her to an extent, than she becomes emotionally attached; meanwhile, she'll tell a Dr. Psycho that she might be wrong for him offhand; now, you get why I can't feel sorry for the woman in that situation? It's like you can find all kinds of excuses to make this work but all kinds of excuses to make the Dr. Psycho/Diana not work; happens all the time; again, I refer you back to a show called Family Matters; just can't bring myself to feel sorry for Diana if she is like that woman. But, even Dr. Psycho gets the bad wrap even though he was never given a chance.

It's a tough situation for him, AmWonder. He bared his soul to her and got turned down (apparently). It's a humiliation for him and he instinctively reacted like that. I'm sure he regrets it.. as seen by his humility as depicted in their Skype call a few issues ago. He's only human and I'm sure if he had to face that moment again he might react differenly.

Sure. I agree. That's love; it sucks at times. This Diana is such a candid open character. What you see is what you get. Hopefully he apologized like a gentleman later when he calmed down. She clearly does not hold anything against him for his tantrum by their Skype interaction. But again I really would like to know how far this relationship went that he felt he was in a place to tell her I love you and expect her to say it back. I mean, I am guessing he's what? Mid to late thirties? Must have some relationships under his belt. If I were Diana and I just suddenly came into a place with men...all new to my experience and rather cute and very interesting all of them ...boy, it's like ice cream...so many flavors...you want to try a few, why settle so soon for one. :p

I'm placing my bets that it was because of her well-natured and friendly attitude (unless you're a parademon or a harpy). He made a mistake over time and confused that with attraction. My guess!

I just can't believe that people are starting threads dedicated to the motivations (personal and professional) of one Steve Trevor!

I'm thinking there's a clue in Steve's words that holding hands is a way "to show everyone else they're together." Maybe Diana is worried about putting him in danger. Maybe they actually are having a relationship but they have to pretend to have broken up to protect him. Graves does say he knows how close they really are. Who does he mean by "close"? Diana? The League?

All it took was 70 years, a reboot and a bit of role reversal.

They could have been together in the time that passed between panels two (when the relationship was starting) and three (when the relationship ended).

Starfire can. She destroyed 3 tanks inbetween panels while wearing purple tape over her nipples.

I wonder if this is the NEW take on Diana & Steve's old romantic drama from the old days where she loves him, but must keep him at a distance. Of course, later toward the end, she finally took down her inhibitions and gradually you see her dating him, smooching, etc.

So it may be that this new Diana & this new Steve will become a closer couple years down the road!

But you're NOT Diana. DIANA is Diana, and she's an Amazon. Its not as though she's like us and just came to a new country and can do whatever. All versions of Wondy have had some Amazonian taboo or law or SOMEthing holding them back from certain freedoms, be it self-imposed or not.

I don't know what the hell is going on in the mind of the writers of this issue, but realisticially speaking, there had to have been a reason for Diana to rebuff or hold back.

And so, yes, she's new to Man's World and sees it as a playground of various treats, but that doesn't mean she'll indulge in EVERY one of them.

I like how Geoff Johns is using the character in this new story.

When Wonder Woman grabbed Steve's hand... I loved it.
