    Default X-FACTOR #236 Review Club

The surviving X-thing group try to be brave but only one of them proves to have any fortitude. This is a quick read, the lush, action oriented artwork carries most of the book here, there isn't much to write about. Shattybuns puts up a great fight.
    10/10

Cover gets and X/10, the most X-Treme grade possible.

An issue kept simple, with the looming threat of spoilers:
    Mojo
end of spoilers being teased for Shatterstar and possibly that other comatose guy. Scattershot's design is delightfully 1990s. But more importantly, PAD used a the elder Damian Tryp, and his odd interactions with Layla to their fullest. The everyday humans honestly were pretty fun, and this was pretty solid, like you'd never have expected what amounts to a Shatterstar solo issue can be. Kirk's portrayal of the battle scenes are really fun.

    Meaningless # score: 8/10.

    It was a fun issue

I think the next four issue will be about the team and building up whatever the bad guys are planning.

I would like it if the Mojo2 clean up team from UXMA 16 showed up.

This issue was kinda meh for me. Overall, it was pretty good, but the fight scene just went on a little too long for my tastes. I mean, the whole issue was basically one long, drawn out fight. Still, the art was nice and there were some good bits of dialogue, but I'm already looking past this to the next issue: X-Factor road trip!

Oh man, you just made me picture Leonard Kirk pencilling the Times Square Jumbo-Tron with Mojo's face on it, taunting X-Factor Investigations. I would f'n mark out so hard for that.

I'm with you on that. haven't seen enough focus on Polaris lately so I hope the next issue is good.

It was an enjoyable issue. Pretty standard fare, nothing too special. I can't help but feel that PAD's treatise on reality television is about five years too late. The fight also felt a little protracted, but it'll be more than worth it if we eventually get a Mojo arc. I've been craving his presence for so long and X-Factor is the perfect fit for it. X-Factor Babies? I would love that so much. Imagine an X-Baby after teenage Layla? That needs to happen.

The cover was incredible. Yardin's throwback references were spot on, and Kirk's art was spectacular. I really think he did an impeccable job designing the X-Ceptionals, especially Far Sight, and his Damian Tryp is definitely one of my favourite versions of the character. I really appreciated Tryp's return, and the allusions he made to the drastic consequences of Layla's knowledge. He's always been a lurking presence that I'd like to see more of, especially since his appearances with Jamie in the alternate realities. His motivation seems conflicted and I want to know why.

Admittedly, X-Factor villains ocassionally fall flat (Ballistique and the S.C.A.R.s), but PAD's really building up quite the rogue's gallery here: the Isolationist, Damian Tryp, Vanora and Tier (both of whom seem to be returning soon, I can't wait!), Scattershot and Jezebel all seem to have plans in the offing and I look forward to seeing what happens with them. Of course Dormammu and Captain Deathlock are both still at large too.

Anyway, "Smile for Mojo, you son of a bitch." is now one of my favourite Shatterstar quotes and I'm really excited for next issue's road trip! I hope Lorna brings the crazy.

Another good issue from PAD. I'm hoping that the Mojo references are foreshadowing some clarification of Longshot and Shatterstar's relation.

I liked this issue, but I felt it needed a little more plot to it. We pretty much knew Mojo was involved, but PAD just gives us a minimal tease here. Nice to see things will be connecting (with Tryps appearance). The art work was smashing.

I haven't read it b/c I got the triple play pack and have to wait for weeks after the release date to get it. Rather than relocate this thread two weeks later, I'm just going to preemptively say 10/10. Awesome.
