Default X-Men vs. Avengers #4 Spoilers

This issue was by Jonathan Hickman, so I was pleasantly surprised to find words on the pages. We learn that the person who rescues Wolverine from the Antarctic wastelands is Hope (via a jet!!). Three pages of no dialogue as Thor fights the Phoenix. Hope convinces Wolverine to give her the benefit of the doubt (anticlimax). Emma controls Toad to go to Cerebra and watches across the world as the X-Men kick Avengers asses. Great scene of Storm DESTROYING Black Panther. Both the X-Men and the Avengers figure out that Hope and Wolverine have gone to the moon. As they're about to fight, Thor lands, dead in a moon crater, Phoenix looming overhead. Magik appears to be sexually excited; the rest are frightened.

Yes, but Thor is dead, so it's a wash.

What's the point of the vs issue if they showed here that Cap wins? I am sure everybody was expecting that he would win, but still.

Thor is dead? Sweet! He is giving Jean Grey a run for the "dead-alive-dead-alive-dead-alive-dead-alive" title!

He's never faced the Phoenix before though. And IIRC he's been dead several times

Did you read the issue? If so, wasn't it quick? Hickman didn't burden us with a lot of pesky words.

I'd be interested in reading a Hickman plotted Claremont scripted issue.

No, Claremont might have gotten in the way with characterization.

I like the fact that everybody seam to be more in character, which didn't make one side look like the villain over the other.

Thor pointed at the PF, so he ain't dead. All the fighting was for nothing. No one accomplished anything except Logan. He betrayed Hope and let everyone know where she was headed.

A harmless Apache warrior in the grip of facist white America. Marlon Brando would be proud.
