    Default Ultimate Animated Film?

If you could adapt three Ultimate story arcs to adapt into animated films what would they be?

Thanks to Time_to_Zap for the thread idea.

    I'd choose

Ultimate Human: One of the best miniseries to come to the UU and I think it would work great as an animated film.

Ultimate Doomsday: The epic feel of this story alone demands an animated film.

Ultimate Clone Saga: Do I even need to explain why this would be awesome?

I would have loved to see the Ultimate War arc made into an animated feature. In fact, I think it was slated to be animated at one point but was canceled. That's a shame because that was one of the biggest arcs in Ultimate during the early years. Given the success of the Ultimate Avengers animated features it would have been a natural extension. That and Ultimate Gah Lak Tus would have been a nice feature, but Marvel has been extremely light on these features lately. Ever since Planet Hulk, they seem to have given up on them and yielded the market to DC.

    1. Ultimate Galactus Trilogy - The Avengers 3: Re-Assembled. (Live action feature film)

    2. Ultimate Wolverine VS Hulk - Wolverine VS Hulk. (Live action feature film)

    3. Ultimate War - The series finale of Wolverine and the X-Men crossed over with the series finale of the new Avengers animated series that's supposed to start next year. (Animated film)

    4. Ultimate Human - I agree this would make an incredible one hour to ninety minute long animated movie. (Animated film)

    5. Ultimatum - Would make one hell of a disaster movie if done better than the comic. (Live action feature film)

With Loeb at the head of the animation department, I think I will pass on anything that has Ultimate in the title.

Hmm, I don't think I can agree with you that Ultimatum would make a good live action feature film. Although I believe that Ultimatum could have been quite good if it was actually well written and didn't kill quite so many characters, the basic premise is still "Magneto causes tidal wave -> Lots of Death/Destruction -> Heroes team up and kill Magneto" and I just don't think it would translate well into a movie while still being recognisable as Ultimatum.

Not only would "relevant character" death on that scale be a horrible idea in a live action movie (especially as part of a Ultimate MCU or just the MCU, either which it would have to be in), but if you take that out and only have human death then do you really have enough left for a relatively faithful adaption? I actually think if you did want to try and adapt Ultimatum or use it as inspiration, then it might work better as having the the broad story (tidal waves, etc) as part Magneto's villainous plan in a X-Men movie, without the Avengers/Ultimates etc. That I think would work well as part of the third movie in a theoretical X-Men trilogy perhaps, more so than straight up adapting Ultimatum.

    ---

That aside, which arcs would I pick to adapt? Hmm...

Before the Avengers movie I would have considered either or both of the two Ultimates 1 arcs, but post-Avengers I can live without them because they'd feel just a bit like retreading ground. Setting those aside... ha, I'm find it harder than I thought to pick.

How so? I decided instead of the obvious ones (Ultimatum and Death of Spider-Man) I'd go with something different. What are YOUR choices?

Magnetic North- Because it's awesome, features tons of X-Men, and is everything ever done right with the Ultimate X-Men to me.

Ultimates 3- Yes, I know, I know...but it's a guilty pleasure of mine. Plus, if they could somehow have the animation keep the Maduereira (sp?) flair, it'd be even more gorgeous.

Knights- Again- fun ensemble cast, classic Spidey vs. Kingpin action.

Well, since Ultimates already got adapted, I'd go for Ultimates 2. Galactus Trilogy would probably be even cooler, and Ultimate War/Return of the King would be #3.

Most of the other selections are pretty solid, with the exception of Doomsday. I like my movies to have endings.
I like Ultimate Comics. - Read them with us!

I also buy: Captain America, Avengers, FF, New Avengers, X-Factor, among others
