It'll have in the official "Alien" chronology taking place about a century before the original. The galllery near the bottom of this link speculates that those oddly clothed bald guys from the trailer are actually the "space jockey's" without the suits(http://avp.wikia.com/wiki/Space_Jockey ).It would make sense considering how often they've been popping up in the trailers and how the premise of the movie is about the possibility of life on Earth and other planets having started with the "seeding" of life by species from different planets. So humans coincidentally looking a lot like these guys would seem pretty meaningful to the story in this movie. The downside though would be turning down over 30 years of a cool character design of a trunked gaunt alien who reminds me of "Emplate" from the "Generation X" comics. But then again the size of those guys in the trailer doesn't match up with the size of the original space jockey in the Derelict ship. One thing I still cant go over with esp.after seeing the "They went searching for our beginnings what they found might be our end" is outside of encounters with like proto-Xenomorphs,theMichael Fassbender android David turning on ppl (which would be a little predictable) why would the Space Jockey's be added on to the list of hostilities. Are they trying to hitch a way to Earth to use the proto-Xenomorphs for species extinction/war so they'll have Earth to themselves, maybe?.
By the way here's a viral audio clip form the movie that sounds like a grisly fight with some kind of proto-facehugger (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Va48ajp1drU).Since it's going to be a technically less lucrative R-rating it'd make sense that Ridley Scott would make something that sounds as "all out" as his.
