I'm usually against comic to screen translations, but this is one that could be pretty good if done properly (I.E. not by Disney).
Yeah, I think the idea of a former hero having a detective agency in a super hero world is actually a great concept.

It's the best of both worlds as far as being a tale in the marvel universe that's actually very grounded in the real world.

Too bad it was passed on... though honestly something true to the source material probably needed to be done on HBO or something.

I figured that would tie into the Jessica Jones series.

Shame. I was looking forward to this. They could've done so much with it. Luke Cage and Danny Rand could obviously be regulars and over the seasons, more of the Marvel Knights could be introduced. Dr Strange would be great, even without powers, and Moon Knight would make for fantastic television.

It seems kind of strange that ABC would pass on this, it seems like the kind of thing they could just run before or after Castle. And it's not like they have much of anything good when it comes to dramas.

I agree with this especially in light of the success of the Avengers. It would seem like a no-brainer for ABC whose parent company distributed the Avengers to want capitalize on that success with a show that takes place in that shared universe. While I was never a fan per se of the Alias comic series, it seems like an easy excuse to have a character run around in the background of the larger cinematic universe.

I mean a May sweeps episode where Jessica is hired by Gweneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts to solve a theft at Stark Industries would be awesome.

That would be extremely hard to do because the pilot was never shot; it was never picked up beyond the script stage. Honestly, this was more than likely dead spring of 2011. Scripts are bought for a particular development season, this one being bought for the 2011-2012 season, and then are usually shelved if they're not picked up. It's not very surprising to me at all that it wasn't picked up this year, its chances were already slim without considering the other projects ABC put into development.

Bendis' television projects aren't keeping the attention of network execs.

Did the show just have a bunch of short cuts between characters talking for 30 minutes?

And that would be wrong, because the comic was a big action blockbuster superhero type book?

What a pity. I think it had the potential to be a good show.

I love the Hulk, but I really do not want another Hulk live action show. There is just no way they could do the Hulk justice on a TV budget. The old Hulk show aired before I was born, so I have no nostalgia. I tried to watch it a couple times but I just couldn't do it. I don't think it aged well.

A tv show about a private detective in the Marvel Universe actually could have worked on a TV budget, though. Regardless I'd rather have a Heroes for Hire show.

It wouldn't be that hard to do a live action Hulk show and still have over the top shit happening in it.

My point is, as played as that complaint/dig is, you can't really pin it on Alias. Of all Bendis' Marvel work, that's probably one of the few places where it was most appropriate.

They didn't like something about the pilot though.
