Default Has AvX been a better event than Fear Itself...so far?

According to the boards of CBR, last years event Fear Itself (written by Marvel Architect, Matt Fraction) has largely been considered a disappointing one. Since then some posters have been experiencing so-called event fatigue. Well, in AvX (Avengers versus X-Men for those who somehow don't understand the abbrev.) we have an event that is even bigger than the previous.

So, what I want to know is given the proof of the above statements, how do readers feel now three issues in of the main series (and including tie-in issues)? Are you hopeful during this event? Does it alleviate your fatigue at all?

Tie-ins for both events have (so far in the case of AvX) out-shone the main event books by far.

To answer my own post, I believe so far that AvX is better than FI.

I like the way that AVX is being told in a main book and the tie-in books are very comprehensive in that the rest of the story is only getting told in Avengers and X-Men books. I'm not insinuating that FI books were a mess and one couldn't tell heads from tails, but AvX does somehow appear to be more streamlined.

Also, the premise comes off as being easier to understand. Avengers vs X-Men. That's what we're getting and it's been awesome so far. FI had a simple premise, but it got ugly for some people.

At the end of the day, I hope that AvX comes out a winner that will win back readers who want to have the taste of FI (and prior events) washed from their mouths. I also want my fellow readers to believe in these events and actually pick them up and buy them instead of having it dead set in their minds that "events are evil".

That's definitely true. JiM and AA were great in FI, and the WatXM, UXM, and AA tie-ins are pretty good. The SA, adjectiveless Avengers, and XML are kinda meh, but that's still better then the main.

I thought that the FI tie-ins were better than the main for sure. But, I can't speak on the AvX tie-ins much because I think I'm only reading Uncanny X-Men as the only book that ties into the event.

I do miss the random tie-in event books though. I don't have much interest in picking up any Avengers or X-Men titles for their tie-in purposes (generally due to the writers on those books).

    So far I think so.

The flow is pretty tight and the tie ins feel relevant to the event and yet not necessarily essential in order to understand it. But it's still kind of early so I'd ask this again after all is said and done.

Fear Itself honestly was kinda slow and boring for my tastes. So I'd definately put AvX ahead of it.

The fighting alone will likely allow it to continue to coast ahead of Fear Itself, in my eyes at least, unless it really bombs.

This. EXCEPT FOR NEW AVENGERS....That joke of characters name Fongi or some shit like that. The Tie-In's should have been the main book while the main story is just versus and tie-in's.

Fear Itself set a pretty low bar. Hell, the bar's practically on the floor.

Both are pointless. AvsX is worse for the fact it brings these pointless controversial debates and the Hardcore X-Fans into the Avengers Forum acting as if the Avengers are Normans Dark Avengers. Can't wait for the event to be over to get rid of this Fan Rivalry.
