good for him on making a stand

wonder who will be next or if this might cause any changes

surprised that there hasn't been more of an uproar considering the whole before watchmen thing, like I never thought something like that would show up in all seriousness

If that happens, I bet the above springs up in various shapes and forms everywhere.
Yeah,I know, you just have to ignore the entitled morons in the fanbase.

Yeah, pretty sure the article had mentioned he had plenty of work. Plus it was in the OP.
But, reading is hard, I know.

It was this sort of snide comment these kids were throwing at Landridge on Sunday, but the ignorance of this shows why it might have to take a 'big name' to go 'fuck it, I can't be a whore anymore' and leave the Big Two to stew in their own juices.

And, why is it okay for someone to post mundane details on Twitter about their lives, and no one gives a shit, but the moment they announce something of substance (like Roberson did), suddenly the pitchforks and torches come out?

I had a very quick chat with him at the weekend and he's got lots of work coming up.

    Yeah, I can imagine.
The guy is talented, he's not going to be hurting for work, the same way that Chris Roberson will be fine.

He's not going to go running to DC Thompson to get a few Beano strips (which isn't a bad thing), and I know he's downplaying this but this is a bloke with a family who has walked from a pretty serious income stream and that's braver than sitting behind a keyboard slagging him off for having principles.

I should say there was gossip at the Bristol Expo that a few other creators are considering telling Marvel and DC where to go but are holding out for a prime time to drop the announcement so I'd pay very close attention to social media around the time of Before Watchmen.

    cause people think they're clever

    or they're just haters

usually one of those two camps

and king mob on that announcement thing, i'd be glad to see something like that go down cause I find it hard to believe that people could really consider Before Watchmen a decent idea

like really going back to that material?

JMS coming out and essentially saying 'people get fucked over all the time but that's life, deal with it' seems to have been a motivating comment for some creators so it'll be interesting to hear feedback from Mark Millar's convention in London this weekend as Dave Gibbons will be there along with some creators apparently on the verge of leaving.

I hope there are people telling DC and Marvel to fuck off next month when Before Watchmen comes out, but realistically we might get one or two others mainly because I think a lot of people don't realise just how hard it is to make a decent living off comics while having things like a mortgage and a family behind them.

Guys like Ennis and Ellis have so much work on the independent scene, as well as dipping their toes into screenwriting (and directing in Ennis' case), I can't imagine they need any work from Marvel OR DC.
