They don't mesh well. The occasional team-up is fine, but they'll never, ever be a couple or a team.

If they could get Scarlet Johanson in tight leather to do poses that the photo shop into the book then sure. Otherwise she belongs in DD or Hawkeye.

The other day I found a life size wall decal of Scarlet Johanson in the tight leather outfit. I joked with my wife we should get it. She said she'd be fine with it. It was an odd moment...

Spider-Man has some of the similar traits that Daredevil, Captain America, and Hawkeye has. The problem with Spider-Man x Black Widow stems from the fact that she was never used as a featured guest(like The Black Cat) in Spider-Man's world(prior to Ends of the Earth) because most Spider-Writers in the past were never interested with using her in their stories. I feel that if she were used as a regular guest from the early days of ASM, I think that the response of her bring Spider-Man partner would have been positive because they would have develop a friendship from that moment in time. As with Carol Danvers, a lot of folks would learn to appreciate the Black Widow and Spider-Man working together once in a while.

I don't think the problem with Black Widow and Spider-Men stems from a lack of use together. We just had the pair-up in EotE, and the personality sparks didn't exactly fly. The thing with Carol and Pete is that there is synergy with their personalities. I think a similar dynamic exists (kind of) with She-Hulk.

For me this is a resounding NO. I like Tasha and Buck's inter-action in the WINTER SOLDIER and I don't really see what Peter and 'Tasha have in common. There's no logical reason to pair them up really.

    Cheers.

I think the whole basis and logic of this is supposed to be that Natasha has a spider-themed name.

It has nothing to do with the Spider-Themed name. It has more to do with their respective personalities that would eventually find a common ground to work together. And remember that Silver Sable's personality is in many ways like Natasha Romanoff. Yet Silver was able to find a common ground with Spider-Man. The thing is that in retrospect, if the past Spider-Writers had used the Black Widow and Spider-Man as a working relationship that matures into a mutual friendship, we might have had a very different view on Peter Parker and Natasha Romanoff as more than just friends.

    James,
One could say that there was no logical reason for the Black Cat to work with Daredevil. Yet, her interaction with Matt has worked out very well. I am willing to bet that if Silver Sable was placed into Bucky Barnes's world, they would work out very well. In other worlds, why not trade off the Black Cat to Daredevil's world and Silver Sable to Winter Soldiers world in exchange for The Black Widow in Spider-Man's world as his crime fighting partner in a story arc? Would you say the it's a fair exchange?

If anything, Natasha x Peter have a lot more in common than they know as far as their personal goals and beliefs are concerned.

I will say that when Spidey and Ms. Marvel first worked together, their personality sparks didn't exactly fly either. She even kicked him in the groan
because she thought that he was working for Norman Osborn during the Dark Siege era. It took them a long time to develop a friendship together.

As for the She-Hulk, I still stand by the notion that if Jennifer Walters got to know Peter Parker, they would become fast friends immediately. And it would be interesting to see Jennifer interact with Peter Parker in her human form.

Besides Carol and Jennifer, a similar dynamic exists with Jessica Drew, Betsy Braddock, and Natasha Romanoff.

If I was to have asked what were the chances of Ms. Marvel and Spider-Man having a mutual friendship 30 years ago in the early 1980's, the response would have been Never going to happen! And this was when the Black Cat was making her moves towards Spider-Man.

What role would Natasha fill that Black Cat wouldn't? Both their and spy are very similar and the stakes are always higher with Black Cat and Spidey because of their history.

Just curious, but how does one have a non-mutual friendship? Does it mean one person thinks they are friends but the other one can't stand their guts? I think if you just say "friendship" by itself, people will get the meaning.

That's true, but Carol's personality changed considerably in those 30 years. After Carol was reworked, I think the potential for sparks was tangible immediately, even if they didn't become "BFFs" immediately.

I wouldn't really want them together but Spidey and She Hulk have always gotten on really well in the past, she even thought the black costume made him look hot. Then Avenging Spidey was written and it felt like a totally different dynamic sadly.

Ive never even seen him interact with Psylocke, I can't imagine them together really. As for Jess and Widow, Spider people shouldn't have other spider people as partners, it's way too much of a cliche. Besides, having Spidey partner and be trained by Widow would totally change the character, he wouldn't be the Spider-Man that everybody likes, he'd be a spy or soldier with spider powers, we've got Flash Venom for that if really needed.

I like Spider-Man the way he is.

When I brought up Spider-Woman x Black Widow as alternate crime fighting partners for Spider-Man, I was implying that their respective personalities and background experiences would work well with his. And when I mentioned that the Black Widow could train Spider-Man, she would only train him to be better hone his fighting skills without the use of his powers. Once again, I didn't pick Spider-Woman and Black Widow as crime fighting partners for Spider-Man because of their Spidey-Themed identity. I pick them for their personality as I feel that both of them should be members of the Spider-Family. If we keep things the way they are, it would get very boring when I sometimes see the same thing over and over again. I just feel that Spider-Man's female crime fighting partners should extend beyond The Black Cat to no more than 6 other heroines who are close friends with Peter Parker/Spider-Man as far as female super heroes goes.

I still think that Spider-Man x Psylocke would get along very well under a writer who knows how to make it work because the potential is there. As for the She-Hulk, I feel that different writers have perceived her differently around Spider-Man in a not so positive light. So unfortunate as they could become very good friends outside of the superhero spotlight.

Let me be very clear on this matter. I am not advocating for a Spider-Harem in a sense that all the women are his groupies. I just feel that Spider-Man heroine partnership must extend beyond the Black Cat. This was why I feel that Felicia should be Daredevil's crime fighting partner while Silver Sable should work with Bucky Barnes in exchange for Black Widow working with Spider-Man. And the strategy could work when Black Widow is traded to Hawkeye in exchange for Spider-Woman as Spider-Man's crime fighting partner in a story arc.
